Babylon 5

Now the link worked.
That looks awesome, but I just don't know if I can justify spending that much on something like this.

Maybe someday we'll see a good nonfiction book on the history of B5 and Crusade with information on unproduced stories, the direction Crusade would have gone, and the other things that would make a book interesting to B5 fans who aren't diehard enough to buy all those volumes of script books. Maybe it could even come from a regular publisher so people could buy it in stores or from Amazon. Maybe there could even be an ebook edition. Maybe the secrets of Crusade and B5 could be revealed to the masses and not only the priesthood. Maybe the book could even have some critical assessments of the show and JMS's writing. Maybe the book could even be a reasonably priced paperback.

Well, I can dream.

Maybe someday...
"Someday. But not today." </G'Kar>
The main problem with most of the above is that no mainstream publisher is interested. As for the rest, a new unofficial guide came out in September. I wasn't particularly impressed so didn't post about it but YMMV.

With all of the comic book revivals of old shows, I'm kind of amazed we haven't gotten one for B5. With JMS's extensive history with comics he could even write it himself.

Not sure what it would take, to be honest. Once upon a time game book publisher Mongoose wanted to do comics but apparently (and this is based on what I was told by the company president, a not entirely reliable source), DC comics ( owned by Warner's) blocked that saying that they held the rights to do comics. We do know a couple of things, though. First, licenses from WB start at around $10K and they're reported as telling at least one possible licensee (Big Finish audi dramas) that they would not make a license available.

C$4.99 on Kindle, so what the heck. It's A Dream Given Form by Ensley F. Guffey and K. Dale Koontz, if anyone's interested. Don't know anything about the authors but the publisher, ECW, has done some decent stuff.

Interesting. Big Finish produces good work. Their Blake's 7 audio dramas may, on average, be better than the TV series. But with Babylon 5, I can't help but think that even if Warner okayed a licence, JMS wouldn't like the idea if it went ahead without his involvement, which would probably kill the whole thing as far as a lot of the fanbase is concerned.

There's always been some discussion about a comment he made that if something wasn't done without him it wouldn't happen but there's no indication that he has veto power over licenses. As I recall, his issues with Mongoose initially were over them declaring their novels to be canon and that they'd planned on mining his unproduced scripts for some of them. Later, he had issues over the quality of the novels themselves.

That’s a shame. Audio would be a good home for a season six to pick up with the new team, where we left off. The drakh war, the plague, the Interstellar Alliance etc, and obviously the Telepath war. Much rather have the movies though, but it is what it is.

I bought one of the pre-release copies of Visions of Peace from Mongoose, and based on that, I think just about everyone would have had issues over the quality of the novels.

Does anyone know what JMS is up to now that Sense8 is over?
He's retired from comics as of a couple of years ago. He's written an autobiography but we haven't heard of a publication date as yet. There've been two projects in development for a while now: A TV series based on his comic 'Midnight Nation' and a feature film based on his comic 'Rising Stars'. He's said that he's concentrating mostly on plays and novels now because they're outside of his comfort zone.

Got my Encyclopedia! :techman:
I'm using the purple bookmark ribbon. Anyone who uses the green one must die.

I'm up to Ivanova's entry in my leaf-thru. I'm pleased that, of all the dignified in-uniform stills they could have used for her photo, they chose her sexy-smirk as she was just about the start her human mating dance. :guffaw:
