Aw, crud! Margaret Clark is gone now, too.

Well, for those of us who were in mid-project, who do we talk to now?

You can talk to us. We are your friends and friends are always there and ready to lend a hand.

There's also mom and dad, your dog or cat and lest we forget, God. :)

Margaret, I'm sorry about this hitting you at the point that I suspect it has. Here's to your finding your feet again sooner than later!

I'm really sorry to hear about Margaret's losing her job. Best of luck to her in the future!

As for this other issue...

It's amazing to me the number of people who don't understand that,

1. There are other good editors who will keep the TrekLit flame alive,

2. This is not a specific targeting of the ST line, and

3. The entire publishing industry is hurting and moving the ST line away from Pocket wouldn't help it at all.

Star Trek has been through many staff editors at Pocket over the past 30 years, including David G. Hartwell, Dave Stern, Kevin Ryan, and John Ordover as well as Margaret Clark, Marco Palmieri, Ed Schlesinger, and Jennifer Heddle. As unfortunate as it is to lose any editor under these circumstances, the business of producing Star Trek prose fiction continues.

Don't forget Mimi Panitch!

Let's hope the day never comes when the powers that be decide to kill the entire Trek line.

A sad day for TrekLit. Thank you Margaret for everything you've accomplished and good luck!

Well, Mimi was before both of our times. I recall her only because she wrote an amusing essay about her stint as the Trek editor for THE NEW YORK REVIEW OF SCIENCE FICTION.

She stated that editing the Trek line was like being the Pope during a time of extreme doctrinal dispute!

I met Mimi once when we had her and John Ordover on the TV version of The Chronic Rift. They were discussing the 25th anniversary of Trek at the time.

Wow, this is really suprising. Best of luck to Margaret.

At least we still have some people with Trek Lit expeirence working on the line. Personally, I'm not gonna be at all worried until we hear that the other two editors have been fired as well. They've been working with Marco and Margaret, so I'm sure they know what works for Trek Lit.

And Ed and Jen aren't exactly newbies. Ed's been around since at least the Ordover era. He did the final edit on TO REIGN IN HELL, among other projects.

And Jen worked on my XENA book at Roc years ago.
