@StarTrek1701 what is the basis for making that comment? The fact that someone just brought him and Wasp up in this thread would automatically prove you wrong. They're not A list heroes and the public is probably not aware of them but to say "no one cares about them" is an incorrect statement. Comic book fans that are aware of the characters history to the "Avengers" would care for instance.
Excluding Ant-Man wouldn't mean squat to even the most hardcore fans. They may have brought it up but that doesnt mean any fan is gonna boycott the movie because Ant-Man isnt in it.
No, what is important is a good story and faithfulness to the original material. Worrying about gender balance or ethnic balance or "power balance" sounds like that political correctness crap that is ruining this country.

It's all important. Complaints about "political correctness" are always red herrings.
I am glad Peter Jackson is staying fairly faithful to Tolkien's text for The Hobbit rather than making seven of the dwarves female in order to provide balance.

Whether you call it a red herring or not, if filmmakers focus more on making sure there are equal amounts of men and women or people of various ethnicities in a story, rather than the story itself or faithfulness to the source text it is a problem in my opinion. I am glad Peter Jackson is staying fairly faithful to Tolkien's text for The Hobbit rather than making seven of the dwarves female in order to provide balance. I like what I have seen of the Avengers project so far and I trust Joss Whedon will not feel the need to go the Buffy or River route and make Black Widow smarter, wittier, and physically stronger than the other guys just to provide "balance".
"No. I think obviously in the comics, the team-ups and mix-ups have kept publishing going for many years. But Spider-Man has a huge universe of its own, so many villains, foes and friends "¦ It's not something we're thinking about because we have so much more to tell."
Amazing Spider-Man 2 needs Iceman and Firestar in it.
I think pedantic is the word this board likes to use: Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man.I'm hoping the third movie will be called Your Neighborhood-Friendly Spider-Man.![]()
