Strange doesn't begin every loop the same way. It's the same line, yes, but very different deliveries. If he just totally resets every time, why would that change so much? Or at all?

Dunno. Maybe his delivery is affected by how frustrated Dormammu already appears to be.

Incidentally, the first two deliveries are identical. I believe they’re actually the same take. Dormammu also starts the first two loops the exact same way. That’s consistent with the hypothesis that it’s differences in Dormammu that lead to the different deliveries.

And most people I’ve discussed it with believe that Strange does lose his memory after each loop, which is essential to it working. Why can’t Dormammu simply torture Strange until he breaks? Because from Strange’s perspective, he’s never been facing Dormammu for more than a few minutes, so as long as he has the willpower to endure a few minutes of torture, Dormammu can’t break him.

I think this is a great explanation, I remember when I first saw the movie thinking that Dormammu could eventually break Stephens will, how many times could a person endure dying , it would have to take a toll eventually . With Dormammu existing out of time, I could see him willing to trade a thousand years for the victory.

The fact that he concedes the win to Strange suggests he doesnt think he has another option, it makes sense if Strange is resetting every time, Dormammu would realize if he can endure one death, he can endure every cycle.

Feels a bit like "Heaven Sent" in Doctor Who

This is a cool idea that I had not considered, just because I had not thought about deeply before. It would be interesting to see a situation where the return of those memories could be used against him.

Does this mean that all of Season Five of "AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.", "THOR: RAGNAROK", "INFINITY WAR" and "ANT-MAN AND THE WASP" were set in 2017? "THOR: RAGNAROK" was set two years after the events of "AGE OF ULTRON". Which means "AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D." (a lot of time traveling was involved), "INFINITY WAR" and "ANT-MAN AND THE WASP" were all set immediately after the events of "THOR: RAGNAROK", at least according to the current MCU Timeline (http://marvelcinematicuniverse.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline) . . . right? Am I right?

Infinity War was a few weeks after Ragnarok, I think someone said that the Asgardians were traveling around for weeks before Thanos attacked them.

But the movie ended with Thanos' ship catching up with the Asgardians. So . . . still 2017 . . . right?

Another thought: at the start of each loop, he looks at he green glowy thingy, as if checking a wristwatch. Maybe it has some kind of counter?

The Time and Soul stones (causing the temporal and base magical glyphs) do seem to uniquely pair off in having the user create specific holographic pictoral representations of what they're doing. Probably only Wizards can read any of it, but the time loop spell he 'writes' in his wrist does have a series of symbols he scrolls through.

The Mind stone and Reality stone bind to living beings and interact through flesh contact.

The Space and Power stones throw off weird plasma like whisps of energy and thrum at a certain audible range, in their own colours.

Oddly they are a set of 6 stones born from the same event, cut into gems by the Eternals at once (apparently) but have 3 pairs of siblings?

Enjoy exploring these questions I do.

Frankly, I thought the odds were a bit too much. It seemed as if the screenwriters were using it to justify what finally happened . . . or choices not made.

That scene wasn't right after the movie though, it was supposed to be weeks or even a month after the evacuation.

Yes. I know that. But . . . "Ragnarok" made it clear that the film was set two years after the events of "Ultron". Exactly when was "Ultron" set? 2015 or 2016? Even if "Ultron" was set in 2015 and "Ragnarok" was set in 2017, the events of "Infinity War", Season 5 of "S.H.I.E.L.D." and "Ant-Man and the Wasp" would still be set in 2017 . . . orJanuary 2018, even if the post-credit scene of "Ragnarok" was set "weeks or even a month" after Thor and the others left Asgard.

Perhaps Thor and the others were traveling for a few months, instead of a few weeks, before Thanos caught up with them. That would leave "Infinity War", "Ant-Man and the Wasp" and "S.H.I.E.L.D." Season 5B set in 2018 after all.
