How do you rate "Avengers: Infinity War"?

Went to see IW for a second time. I really enjoyed this film, though it's not my favorite. CA:TWS and Avengers:1 still hold the top two spots.

Thanos is a great MCU villain; Hats off to Josh Brolin. I think even greater adulation should go to the animators that created Thanos. There are closeups of his face where you can actually see small hairs, much like you would on a real human face. The facial expressions were spot on. Thanos felt very real.

Some of the humor was really good, such as Tony calling Maw Squidward, Drax's descriptions of Thor, Quill imitating Thor, or Thor calling Rocket, Rabbit. Some of the humor didn't work though, such as the "Where is Gamora; Who is Gamora; Why is Gamora".

I think the best scene of the movie is when Thor arrives in Wakanda, zaps dozens of Thanos' army and Banner says "You guys are so screwed". As with the first viewing, I found myself with a big, cheesy grin watching that.

Anyway, Marvel is definitely firing on all repulsors and doesn't show any signs of slowing down. Out of nineteen films, there really haven't been any duds. Sure you could say that TIH, T:TDW or CA:TFA aren't at the same level as CA:TWS, Avengers, BP, IM:1 or a handful of others, but even the lower ranked movies are still very enjoyable.

Thanos, both performance wise and special effects wise was amazing. Especially that scene where he turns around crying before sacrificing Gamora. It read as being an emotional scene. The only other time I've gotten that from a CG character was Caesar from the new Planet of the Apes films. He's really one of those characters where you just forget that he's really an effect.

Watched it again today in 2D and maybe enjoyed it a little more.
Noticed that Thanso looked pretty injured at the end when he went to see his sun rise. How fatal is an axe in the chest with a busted infinity gauntlet?

The film had a monster second weekend, grossing $112.5 million, beating out Black Panther by not even a million dollars. I think it's safe to say, despite it's a huge opening, it won't reach The Force Awakens numbers, but it'll undoubtedly catch up with Black Panther eventually.

Agreed on all counts. CGI motion-capture characters have come a long way, both in the special effects and the performances. Considering more and more are appearing at a regular rate, I keep hoping award shows, particularly the academy, will finally create a joint award for such work. Andy Serkis in particular is long overdue for proper recognition for strives he's made in the field and Josh Brolin and his co-star, Terry Notary, have added to it.

I just saw the movie, and it was fucking great. A few small things I didn't like, but nothing big. It managed to juggle a huge cast really well. The story was really good, and it had a good balance of serious with humor only in the appropriate places. Its not quite my favorite MCU film, but its definitely top tier. I voted A.

You know, I was thinking about how to put my feelings into words, but this is basicly it.

It's also possible he's referring to finishing work with The Untitled Sequel, which recently finished filming, and Heimdell returns to life and then decides to go exploring in another galaxy.

No disrespect to Oscar Isaac, or his first-rate makeup team, but Infinity War conclusively proves that Apocalypse should have been a mocap/CG villain. With this sort of baddie, one wants someone literally larger than life, a giant who dwarfs those around him. IMHO, anyone who thinks Thanos' animation is subpar is probably impossible to please, CG-wise, and anyone who wishes it'd been Brolin in purple makeup is out of their minds. :p

Right under the Shrek one...

Thanos had already halved the populations of several worlds before The Snap. Did those worlds have their populations halved again by The Snap, or were they spared its effects?

I admit, it crossed my mind that it would have been potentially amusing if Led Zeppelin had been reused for that scene.;)

The Gods of Asgard got halved, days after Surtur gutted them by %90.

I can't imagine the natural reaction to seeing your friends and allies turn to dust before your eyes and in Tony's case seeing your young protege beg for his life and then apologize for dying in your arms as he turns to dust. Maybe they should have cried out for Martha.

..or maybe they should have expressed realistic instead of flatlined reactions. Its as though the characters were like the actors--knowing the "deaths" are hollow, because the 'ol gang will be back in A4.

First of all, was there any ending to the movie possible than the one we got? How could anyone have been surprised?

So Hydra taking over in Winter Soldier was about preparing for (baseline, no gauntlet) Thanos?

Which is weird if they knew that Thanos was going to kill half the world when he got here.

How does the math work on that?

Is it better to be a minority who might be completely wiped out/completely spared, in a random cull, or is it better to be a near total majority where only half your people die, so that you are sure that you will not be removed in whole by Thanos?
