Tony didn't have the time to think about the minutia of what he could with whichever stone in the heat of the moment. He had one opportunity to turn the tables as emphasized by Dr. Strange. He seized that moment and did the simplest thing he could do before Thanos could react and retake the Gauntlet.

That's a fair point. But Thanos didn't seem too badly harmed during his first snap--where he wished away so many.

The second snap--where he used the stones to destroy the stones--that I can see as having cooked him.

Now--what happens to the glove?

In the comics, Adam Warlock gets it, but he was only hinted at in the last Guardians of the Galaxy film.

Thanos was able to take on the Hulk, thor and others in physical combat - he was on an entirely different level to a guy in lifts.

The first Avengers shot makes sense. They were all there. For all women shot, some of them were literally on the other side of the battlefield. For example The Wasp was in that Van which was way away. Plus the fact they all came to help Captain Marvel, the one character that didn't need any help.
I saw it as more about helping her get there faster, they take out anyone who gets in her way while she just flies. Like a football team. The one with the ball runs and everyone else blocks for them. Captain Marvel and Spidey were even holding it like a football. I thought it was pretty obvious, I guess I'm more observant than some.

But this is becoming increasingly obvious that this is just a thing some people get upset about for very specific reasons that they avoid directly mentioning, but it's pretty clear given that it's only a problem when it's female characters. Yeah.

-Bucky should have been given the shield. He could become Cap and we could have a Captain America And The Falcon. Instead we have Winter Soldier/White Wolf and Captain Falcon.

I disagree. I think Sam was the perfect choice. Yeah Bucky and Steve were essentially brothers. They grew up together. Bucky was always looking out for Steve and vice versa. They both shared many of the same experiences at least until Bucky fell from the train. But Sam was more similar to Steve, IMHO.

Like Steve, he wasn't looking for a fight, but wouldn't back down if one was forced upon him. Steve wanted to join the Army because he saw the Nazis as bullies and felt it was his responsibility to help. Sam (prior to joining the military) was probably a great all around athlete; Maybe even offered a scholarship. He's also an "A-type" personality and could have very likely succeeded as a Navy SEAL or Army Ranger or any spec ops team member but instead became an Airforce PJ. The Pararescue motto is "So that others may live". He didn't join the military to fulfill some desire to be the best-of-the-best (not that that's a bad thing). He joined and chose pararescue as this was the best way he saw to help.

Sam wasn't hosting a support groups at the VA because it was the only thing he could do. He felt that it was his responsibility to help service members returning from the war. Sam didn't help Steve in "The Winter Soldier" because he was looking for a fight, but because he believed in Cap and his cause. I think the writers made the correct choice in making Sam the successor to Cap.

All of the group "money" shots of the Avengers are "forced", regardless of the sex of the characters.

I remember seeing the all female heroes in that one shot and thinking "Oh cool! All the women in one shot, nice." It was forced, it was gratuitous, it was unnecessary and it was AWESOME! I wanted Wonder Woman to show up and high five all of them. Reminded me of the Wakanda battle when the Scarlet Witch killed Proxima Midnight to save Nat and Okoye, only bigger.

I would happily pay to see a movie of all of the female heroes having to band together to save the world from some Thanos like villain with Poison Ivy-like powers over all men.

I don't think I'm a "terrible person" for thinking the shot of the women avengers felt a little forced. It didn't seem organic to what was happening and was sending a message to the audience.. hence -- forced
It’s a movie, it’s all forced. That’s how movies are made, there are shots meant to stand out. That’s how you get memorable scenes. If it all looks the same and blends in, you don’t remember it. That’s why people can’t remember the Transformers films. You’re just picking and choosing which ones you don’t like because it’s memorable and you didn’t like that that for some reason.

Other famous shots that were forced.
  • Luke staring at the twin suns setting in Star Wars
  • The priest standing outside the home in The Exorcist
  • T-Rex roaring as banner falls in Jurassic Park
  • Superman smiling at camera in Superman The Movie
  • Building collapsing as Narrator and Marla watch in Fight Club
  • Andy standing in rain in Shawshank Redemption
  • Injured soldiers in Gone With The Wind
  • Dorothy and friends going to Emerald City in Wizard of Oz
All brief moments of film that will be remembered as long as we remember film, there are countless others. They were meant to stand out, that’s the reason they shot it. Yet it’s somehow a problem with this one scene.

I also don't think I am a ''terrible'' person for having the same opinion as you.

I think both Bucky and Sam are Steve's best friends / surrogate brothers so Rogers knows the essence of what makes both tick. That said, Sam's personality, heart and sense of justice is closer to Rogers than Bucky (pre or post Hydra), which would be the easy answer to explain his choice to give the Cap identity to Sam. Any references to the comics aside, it would have been too predictable (and giving in to years of MCU fan theories / wishing) for Bucky to become the second Captain America. He has a seperate, troubled path to take, which does not make him Cap material now--possibly ever.

Still, if the Falcon/Winter Soldier series is a success, I could see the duo falling into a situation that demands Bucky take on the identity (even if he does not want to). I'm interested to see how they operate in the grand scheme of things for big screen outings--if they will be a part of a reformed Avengers, or decide to go the dynamic duo route until the equivalent of another Endgame.

Well this thread is just talking about this one movie, but there are a lot of movies that do things that seemed forced and kind of take the viewer out of it. I don't think of any of your examples fit the same way. They were just parts of the movie that flowed with the story. To me the female characters happening to gather in one spot in the middle of this humongous didn't flow well, or at all. Just my opinion though.

It was one second in the entire movie. I think there's more substantial things about the movie to gripe about like character portrayal and plot holes.

They can, but I was here for the AoU discussions, and nobody had this kind of problem with a 90% sauceage fest photo op so darn it, I really can't put my finger on why so many people have such a problem with this one thing in particular...
I just recall people saying they didn’t like it as much as the one from Avengers. No one called it weird though. Calling it weird seems odd to me, it’s a money shot you’re supposed to notice it. Not call it weird because it did what it was supposed to do. Seems like a poor understanding of the language of film to me.

It wasn’t all women, so it’s okay. It has absolutely nothing to do with them being women though, nothing at all. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

So nobody can criticize woman in movies because then they are sexist or by definition wrong?

And like crookeddy said, It was also weird in AOU.
