Avengers 2 News, Rumors, Etc. Pictures until release...

if Paramount announced a six year slate featuring separate films for each character, and if each film was just trying to sell the other films, that most people complain the same way I'm complaining.
The difference there is, you're combining two franchises that typically don't share a universe.

And anyway...the MCU is "product" but Transformers and GI Joe aren't? The properties that existed solely to sell toys? Do they contribute to cinema, or does that not count in this case because you used the phrase "guilty pleasure"?
You are patently wrong about your first point. Since the 80s to today thye have frequently crossed over in the comics. There were less hints that the universe was shared but there were afew disinct connectes even there (like Cobra Commander being a villain in a Transformers episode, or that there is a female on Transofrmers' that is Flint's daughter.)

Hey, all movies are products. G.I. Joe is a product. Avengers is a product. Even if I got my G.I Universe, I'd probably want out only a few films in. I'll admit that the first Transformers film in 2007 was what Avengers was to most people. But then again, neither franchise is taking over the slate of summer films for the foreseeable future, and when Transformers got stale, people voiced their opinion and said that AoE was the tripe that it was, but those same people act as if Marvel Studios is making art. They got oh-so-psyched when they saw PurpleMan on screen with all the rings, despite the fact that this "villain" barley qualifies as a character in the MCU.

I guess what is really bugging me is more difficult to articulate.. it's mentality of what's happening. It's like having below-average cafeteria flood slopped on everyone's tray every day for days and days and it feels as if people are not only not trying different foods, but they are eager to get more of the same foods slapped on their tray tomorrow, a month form now, a year from now. One of the things I always like about summer blockbusters was looking forward to different films every couple of years, but that won't happen, not really.

So basically in some vague, nonsensical, non-important way that even you can't be bothered to articulate, you hate these movies. And apparently you feel that we all should too.

For the 500th time, no.

I know they have crossed over more than once, which is why I used the word "typically".

No, it's actually a fair point, but it should be made more generally about blockbusters as a whole rather than at Marvel films alone. Singling out Marvel films as if they're the cause or worst of it is silly but blockbuster movies get "Well what do you expect for a blockbuster?" or "That was good for a blockbuster" even when they're, quite frankly, shit. Now I'd say Marvel films are at the better end of the summer blockbuster type films, which means they can be actually good films as well as profit making popcorn films. So I'm not agreeing with him. But the point about blockbusters is a fair one.

I know what his point is, and that he singles out the MCU far more than any of the others, even giving worse offenders a free pass.

But he made that point, we all got it, months ago. Since then he has gone into every Marvel thread, about every movie, and every time even a new bit of news comes out, just says it again.

If he really dislikes the franchise so much, he would have left the threads and not bothered us again, but he continues to do so, so he continues to get flak about it.

I mean it's not like we don't realise what he's saying, we got it the first time. But this is getting ridiculous now. We can't have one trailer or casting rumour without him shitting on a thread.

Interesting news topic...but why the Avengers: Age of Ultron thread?
What does Dreamworks Animation & Hasbro have to do with this topic?

Nothing. He posted the same link in two other threads and has not returned, but as others have pointed out, he seems to have not read the article anyway.

I just watched the Ultron two parter from Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes and methinks this is a blueprint for the movie. Ultron (created by Pym and augmented by Stark) takes over the world's electronics and fires every nuke to kill humanity. He kills Thor in their first encounter and Thor goes to the afterlife, only to return at the last second to lay the final smackdown on Ultron. And what was Ultron's opening move? Taking over all of Iron Man's armor suits to ambush the Avengers in their tower!

*sigh* What a shame that the series was cancelled.

Also, some new promo art has been released, including character bios for Vision and Ultron. Click

BTW, the Ultron bio contains spoilers for his origin. It says that
The program Tony adapts for Ultron was discovered in the Chitauri invasion aftermath.

I just think it works better that Ultron is the creation of man, whether it's Hank Pym or Tony Stark. Using alien tech takes away the "human" element of rebelling against your creator. I know that's what's gonna happen but it's better if they create it rather than adapt it.
