Avatar contest discussion thread.

There's a discussion going among the regulars of the DS9 avatar contest about the rules of the contest. And maybe we should have one too since we now have new pixel size rules and the KB size you can wear depends on which rank you have.

We could also discuss length of entry period, voting period and as we all know, I am one of those who votes for myself now and again, but should we be allowed to?

What do you all think, is it necessary to discuss these things, and if so, do you all have anything else you'd like to bring up?

As for the avatar dimensions, I'd say that we should definitely go with 140x140 pixels. As for size, that's a slightly tougher issue, but I'd be happy with going to the max (that I've seen) of 70kb.

The other things...unless someone has a major problem with them, I'm happy with them. I vote for myself every now and again as well.

I would be in favor of going with the new larger av sizes 140 x140 and 70 kb.

As far as length of entry phase etc, that kind of varies. I don't like having a contest with fewer then five entries, and most times being a little flexible with the time line gets us there. Especially for me since I seem to be the last one to enter most of the time.

I don't have a preference on the voting period, up to five days is good for me.

I don't usually vote for myself either, once in awhile I do though. Perhaps we could just allow us to vote for ourselves in only one category per contest? I prefer voting for others for the most part.

I'm good with the direction this convo has taken. I tend to like the idea of a 4 - 5 day entry period and at least 3-4 days for voting and organizing the next contest.

Let me try to sum it up.

• Av Size - 140 by 140 pixels or 70.0 KB (whichever is smaller)

• Entry Phase - 5 Days

• Voting / Prep Phase - 5 Days??? (fewer maybe?)

• Entrants can vote for themselves in one category per contest, if they want to.

Is that about right?

^ Sounds good to me! Although, I suggest a voting/prep phase of 3-4 days unless anyone thinks that is too short a time.
