August 23rd

It's good to see Capaldi and the season premiere making the cover of the US TV Guide magazine. The more Who exposure, the better!

Can't wait to see the episode!

Over here, Deep Breath is only airing on Sunday at 7:30pm. No simulcast and a whole 16 hours after everyone else has seen it. Sighs.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm working tonight meaning I'll miss Deep Breath and will have to wait at least 21 hours before I'll catch it.

Not sure where to put this now so I'll dump it here.

According to Moff:

Doctor 8 is 8
War Doctor is 9
9 is 10
10 is 11 and 12
11 is 13
and 12 is Doctor 2.1

Got it. Don't know if I agree with it but I got it.

Where did he say that?

Everything I've seen says that Capaldi is the 12th Doctor. Matt Smith is the 11th Doctor, but 12th Regeneration and 13th incarnation. I think that's the easiest way to do it. It just depends on what you're talking about. If you're talking about runs on the show, you go by number of lead actors. If you're talking about something in-continuity of the show (usually this was done for the regeneration count, which is now largely irrelevant) you go by regenerations (you get 12 of them) or incarnation (there are 13 of them before Capaldi).

The Moff is dyslexic... just got the 2 and the 1 the wrong way round :)

Here's what Stephen Moffat actually said:

"In the script to The Day of the Doctor, Matt’s Doctor was called the Eleventh, and David’s was called the Tenth, so the numbering stays exactly the same – and we call Peter Capaldi the Twelfth Doctor."

Yes, but there's Smith's line about Ten having vanity issues, so we got 10.5. Or something. I don't particularly care, beyond the fact we didn't get the thirteen proper iterations of the Doctor I'd been hanging out for, but I'm cool with it. Personal canon, I guess. :)

The metacrisis counted as a regeneration after the Dalek shot him and regenijizzed all over Donna.

That's not a surprise, it's in the script, it's why Mat was 13, and why he needed a new set of 13 bodies to become Capaldi.

I must have misread some/all of you, because his is basic shit that shouldn't have to be said.

If we didn't argue every little point of the basic shit, we'd have nothing to do at all.
