i'm actually relatively happy with my skincare regiment. i really don't need to buy any more stuff, since what i have is taking over my counter already.

Unfortunately, my skin type started completely changing just over a year ago. My old stuff didn't work and/or got discontinued and the same is true of some of the stuff I used in the transition. I hope it's stable now, because I really don't want to keep switching products.

Besides...

These are just my travel bottles of the things I couldn't live without. (This was from a one-month study abroad trip last year, but there was more stuff laid flat under the mirror and extras of the same things in the closet.)

I'd hate to see everything I have at home in one place.

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

oh, that's nothing, Scatta. i'm not even going to attempt taking any pics of all my stuff.

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

^Neither am I. Those were the travel bottles of things I couldn't live a month without.

I try to keep it a little more under control for shorter trips, though.

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

i got a new fire mountain gems (jewelry making supplies) catalogue today. this is NOT good news for my credit card.

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

My boobs hurt... :scream:
I got my eyebrows waxed... :)
I got other things waxed... :o

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

I love a brazilian wax ;). I discovered today that I'm seven pounds lighter than I was when I last weighed myself. I can't detect a visible difference, but the scale is accurate.

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

The Girly-Girl's Guide to Automotive Care

1. Get your equipment together, along with any reference manuals you're going to look at and set up in the driveway.
2. Remove the first bolts and notice the automotive muck on your hands.
3. Go inside for that tool that you inevitably didn't realize you needed until you needed it.
4. Wash your hands to keep the muck from building up too much. Do not attempt to remove all of the muck as over-washing will dry hands (more than staying relatively clean will anyway).
5. Notice sweat and spots of greesy muck on your face. Do not attempt to wash your face, as your hands have even more muck on them. Use a light astringant, being careful not to touch any part of the pad that will touch your face.
6. Repeat steps four and five the next time you go inside for something. Do not repeat again, as you don't want to dry your skin any more than you have to.
7. Finish up for the day in the driveway and pack up.
8. Trim nails so that they are all even.
9. Scrub hands with body scrub and dish soap until all of that muck is gone.
10. Drink water, remembering how important hydration is to your skin and your body.
11. Shower and change clothes.
12. Making certain that your hands are completely clean apply a clay masque to remove any impurities from where you've been out working in the driveway.
13. Cover one hand in lotion and place a latex glove (or a glove of some other non-pourous material) over it. Repeat on the other hand.
14. Allow clay masque and lotion to sit for 10-12 minutes. Drink more water during this time.
15. Remove masque from face and take off gloves to rinse hands thoroughly.
16. Moisturize well and put a second kind of lotion on the hands.
17. Have one last glass of water; your skin may need it.
18. Do your nails.

I could so see B'Elanna Torres or any female mechanic rolling her eyes at me the entire time! However, I'm back to working on the RV, so yay.

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

Scatta, i hope you used moisturizing scrub/soap on those hands!!

got my monthly lunapads newsletter earlier. they're offering free stickers with every order. i'll just paste what the thingy says:

Help promote menstrual health with these cool stickers - perfect for bikes, notebooks, bumpers, etc.

Choose "Ditch the Disposables!" or "I (heart) my period", depending on your mood. If you already have lots of pads but just want some stickers, email us to tell us how many you'd like and we'd be happy to send some along for you and your friends!

i heart my period!!????? they must be taking cues from the always people. :p

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

I saw those. I wouldn't mind some of the "Ditch the Disposables," but I'm not making an order just to get them. But the other ones? Nope, not happening.

It's just getting worse. The Lunapads have bought me a sense of acceptance in regard to my periods that I really didn't have before (for various reasons), but I really think that I'm just ready to be finished dealing with them all together. After I return from my trip next week, I'm going to make an appointment with the doc to discuss options.

In other news, the Duggar family welcomed their 17th child into the world yesterday.

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

Wow. That was a harsh article.

I don't know the family personally, but my father-in-law does. He says they are decent, kind people, and the children are respectful and orderly, and their property is well-tended. And they do live debt-free, without any public assistance. They chose to not use birth control after she miscarried her second pregnancy, which was conceived while she was on the Pill.

15 pregnancies in 20 years (two sets of twins) is a lot, though. I think I'd have to tell the docs to take something out at this point. Oh, and the J-name thing? Not a fan of that.

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

Good God. I know a family of 14, but they happen to own Solo Cup. They're all set for life, thanks to college students across the country drinking from red plastic cups.

I couldn't imagine ever having more than 4, and 4 at the absolute most. I just find it completely irresponsible parenting. The older kids end up raising the younger ones, and none of them get the attention they deserve.

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

yeah, that article seemed a bit harsh to me too.

i'm rather bothered by it too, but mostly the publicity surrounding it. i mean, i'm sure there are other families that aren't so white that have gazillions of kids too. and that many pregnancies just doesn't seem like it could be healthy. it's nice to know that she's so fertile... no, wait, i'd rather not know about her fertility. :p

the j-name thing needs to go. especially since they seem to be running out of j-names. janna, joy-anna, and johannah seem entirely too close to me.

Eratta, i really wonder about the attention thing too. i'm an only child, so i've always gotten an obnoxious amount of attention (usually more than i can handle), but this spreading out seems a bit too far into the other extreme.

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

I have a friend who was the youngest of 11 (yes, another religious family) - her oldest sibling moved out before she was born.

She had a good relationship with all her siblings, but that with her eldest siblings was more of a parent/child relationship than brother/sister. Being the youngest and the last to leave home did mean she got parental attention, but some of the middle children did feel a bit forgotten.

Financially it was tough - they had food, a lot of hand-me-downs, and a ticket out the door upon high school graduation.

None of her siblings have gone on to have big families, which might say something...

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

I'm an only child, and would have liked to have an older sister to spread things out... but not sixteen. :p

But I suppose if the parents can afford to pay for all the things all those children need, and if the mother's health isn't at risk, then there are worse things to have happen.

It wasn't that unusual to have large families in previous centuries, and that was with much less health care technology available.

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

Oh this Girl Power topic.

Gee talking about bra's and tampons is so so so strange.

Even that I am a woman, talking about stuff like this is ok to a point. It would be like me asking other women do you love to pull out your used tampons. Hmmmmm ..... maybe to woman only topic.

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

if any ladies need help buying bras, i am fully qualified to stand there and say 'you look hot' when you model them. or feel free to email me photos!

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

About the attention -- I am one of four, and frankly, I don't recall receiving a lot of individual attention from my parents. My next sister and I are less than a year apart -- we were "the girls" for a few years, then she and I were "the big girls" after then next two were born.

We knew a family that had six kids. I remember thinking that what they did was pretty cool -- bedtime was at 8 pm, but one night a week each kid got to stay up until 9 pm and have that hour alone with their parents. The seventh night, the parents spent that hour as a couple. I think I would have liked that.
