Attended the premiere - no spoilers

Orville may have more viewers but Trek may make more money and in the end that is what matters to both CBS and Netflix.
Considering Netflix's worldwide popularity and that Orville is still only available in the US, Trek will probably win the worldwide ratings war.

Me no see veeeeery famous First Warp Five Akiraprise.

Eaglemoss still has the license in the 23 Century, and they still have not upgraded their software for processing orders. Kor got 2 Akiraprises for his collection, but he is missing his D7.

Um what? I think you might have the wrong website there.
They haven't been as bad as some but they definitely seemed to think there was gonna be a problem, or at least some writers there did.

It will be interesting to see what io9 does. Will they change their tune or double down? Specifically Katherine Trendacosta.

It will be interesting to see what the reviewers who aren't close friends of CBS have to say about the show in the days after the premier.

I think most will be positive. It is just that most reviewers are positively biased, when it comes to series with the right message.

Look at Supergirl for example. I think that series had obviously some major writing problems especially at the start of season 1. It was still praised to high heavens by reviewers, because it was one of the few superhero shows with a female lead and was all about female equality. And when they added a gay couple in the 2nd season, the series was again praised to high heavens by critics, although that gay couple's storyline wasn't intermeshed with the overall storyline at all. They were separated in their little side plot and one of the women was reduced to being "the girlfriend" with hardly any screen time and life outside her relationship. But just the fact that they had gay characters was already reason enough to praise the series a lot, although they weren't written particular well especially after the coming out arc of one of the characters was over. They were treated like an afterthought in their little side plot every few episodes, when they weren't forgotten at all.

DIS also has a female lead. That she is black adds to it. This alone will make most reviewers already positively biased to like the series. Then there is the overall quite diverse cast. They have gay characters. All things critics love and like to reward. And critics generally prefer more serious series, too. Another thing DIS is. I really think critics are bound to love the series.

I do see a damn fine pair of legs. YEOWZA!

No, that just further supports the idea that in TAS what we see ON SCREEN is not the same as what happened IN UNIVERSE.

And the Enterprise D and E didn't have the XCV-330 model in it either. Some ship decorators just preferred some Enterprises more than others.

Does it matter?

It does for CBS. They want to convert people who watch te premier on CBS into AA subscribers and so those people reading reviews of ep 1 and 2 (when these people have only seen episode 1) could help get those people to subscribe to see the wonderful episode 2 the reviewer talks about.

My money is on her doubling down. I've yet to see her walk back a critical statement, no matter how biased or unfounded it turned out to be. It's a shame Charlie Jane Anders left.

If iO9 and HuffPo were to pass within a light year of one another the tremendous gravitational attraction of two such massive bodies of crap would drag them inexorably together to create the most immense Cosmic Shithole ever observed.

There's a terrifying thought. It would make Gallifrey Base look like an idyllic garden party.

Ah - Gallifrey Base. I walked away from there when I got abuse after suggesting that Big Finish had their best days far behind them, and had been producing sub-par work and casting their best mates (the number of interviews that involve, 'we enjoyed working with them before, so now we've created a new companion/character/whole new series for them') for several years - on the grounds that the writers and producers frequented the forums and that I might offend.

Haven't seen this here - and some of the authors, even those that frequent the forums, have had their works downright ripped to pieces in review threads.
