Attackship carrier ships

The way Star Trek III's dialogue used the phrase "scout class", it did seem to imply ship around the size of Grissom.

Spock seemed to think it did, since in TOS he frequently used the term "small craft, scoutship sized" or similar. And Chekov in "TSFS" seeing the Bird of Prey as it cloaked, apparently only getting a mass reading, described it as "A scout-class vessel." This puts a range limit of "scouts" from between about runabout sized, with a 23rd century Bird of Prey as the upper limit.
