Attack of the Show

Ever since getting my higher cable channels I've been enjoying Attack of the Show on G4. How many people here watch it?

I pretty much just watch the opening "Around the Net" and then the "DVDuesday" reviews, but they're always worth a chuckle.

Anyway I was wondering what everyone's preferred hosts are.

I do like Kevin Perrera, but I was wondering more about the lady hosts. My favorite is by far Allison Haislip (the blonde) she has a good sense of humor and doesn't come off as a vapid bimbo like most of the temporary hosts do. My second would be Morgan Webb from X-Play. But most of the one-off chicks, ugh. They clearly just got them for their looks.

Now apparently Olivia Munn is off the show aside from a rare cameo, but I never really cared for her either. She wasn't particularly funny. I definitely prefer Alison and Morgan.

Ugh, sorry, but I can't stand it. I've always found it rather immature. I liked it better when it was The Screensavers.

I used to watch it all of the time but kind of faded off of it. It just became too... "about nothing." Infact, pretty much all of the original programing on G4 became that way over the last few years. It's slowly eroded into bullshit.

:sigh:

I miss The Screen Savers.

I havent seen the show in a while, but Chris Hardwick, albeit barely on the show, was pretty much the only reason I watched it. Although I too like Morgan Webb. She's a fox!

Me too. I also miss Leo Laporte. He used to host a show here in Canada called The Lab, and also a version of Call for Help before he renamed it The Lab, but that's now off the air too. It's sad to see the network now. G4 ruined what was good of TechTV when they merged. Now it's filled with hyper hosts and annoying content, if you can even call it content. They're always so condescending and derogatory. I guess I'm sad to see what the network has deteriorated into when it used to be a rather smart channel.

I watched a bit of Web Soup today, and while that type of show should be entertaining, they've sucked the life out of a good concept, and it's the same problem I see when they're bantering about different topics on AOTS.

Man, I miss the people from Tech TV. Adam and Megan are probably the only originals left there. I also miss Sarah Lane and the others.

Sarah Lane were awesome. And X-Play really went down hill after a format change where, I think, it became an hour long and they added more "video game news" to it rather than just reviews. Otherwise X-Play used to be awesome.

But The Screen Savers on TechTV was awesome, loved it. Geeked out like nothing else on it, esp. the heavier set guy and the crazy mods segment he used to have.

It's been a long time since I've watched it. I know at one point they "re-tooled" it and was part skits, part "gaming news" and part reviews. (Instead of just being straight reviews) I thought when they did that it went to an hour format.

Oh, and possibly the best, and funniest, X-Play review ever:

You mean Patrick Norton and Yoshi? Yeah, they were awesome. I know Patrick Norton is part of Revision3. You should check it out sometime. You can find their videos on Youtube. Not sure about Yoshi. Maybe he's with them too. I used to like X-Play too, but it's also degenerated.

I loved Patrick Norton. Liked him better than Leo, infact. And Yoshi's segments were always great.

You'll find that most discussions about Attack of the Show quickly move to all the Tech TV shows that came before it and how much better things were before G4 took over and ruined everything.

Ditto. The show is a mix of some good product reviews and tech news articles and some really silly nonsense that is totally cringe-inducing, turn the channel stuff.

I also don't mind Kevin because he's totally shameless and will admit on-air when something has totally bombed and quickly moves on to the next segment (which is often). I think he's at his best when he's doing news, reviews, and interviews.

Both Allison and Morgan are cool because they can be silly at times too with Kevin, but more often than not play it straight against him and will be the first to look at Kevin as if he's totally lost his mind when he's gone too far.

As far as the fill-in co-hosts, I don't mind Carrie Keagan (who also hosts VH1 Classic's One Hit Wonders on the side). Yeah, she's a curvy va-va-voom type, but I think she's familiar with aspects of pop culture and good with movie, TV, and music-related stuff on the show. I forgot that she's also an entertainment news journalist in her own right who has appeared on numerous other shows and produces an online entertainment news series of some kind.

Olivia, now...I didn't like hate her at all, but her leaving the show for Hollywood isn't a big loss, IMO...

I liked her apperances on TDS, mostly her "report" where she was talking to some really bigoted person.

So, for those of us who watch... what do you think of the new host Candace Bailey? She's alright but I don't think she's that great. I really think they missed out on not going with Alison Haislip. I thought she was much funnier and more charming and intelligent. Candace seems to be a total airhead.

I love this show watch it every day I miss olivia munn . I so like morgan webb she's the reason I watched screen savers and then x-play . she's a hotty and she's got a brain. THat's what I like in a girl . kevin is just to much sometimes . I use to live in tyler,tx., which is east tx for those who don'nt live in texas and they use to have a great show where they ran transformers and other anime in the mornings . I think it
was monkeybone or something like that.

but I love this show did you see it the other day were they had alison dress up a super hero . ( her power was to smother people with her breast ).
I could'nt stop laughing .
