Atlantis shuttle launch in a couple of hours.

I'm glad they launched today. The clouds coming in made me fear it was going to be postponed again. But it was great to see, and I found it amazing how fast they made it to orbit. It seemed faster than before.

I'm glad they made it up there okay. I hope everything continues to go smoothly.

Any good post-launch info on the "no action" chatter going on during ascent? Seems like it kept Capcom occupied between callouts.

They had a problem with a circuit breaker and a malfunctioning sensor that caused an alarm; that must have been it.

During the launch the NASA TV commentator was talking about a faulty transducer, but Space.com now mentions two minor problems: a circuit breaker and a flaky sensor. Neither where much of an issue, but I believe the crew had to ignore the calls from the sensor and had to get their info from the ground. A bit of extra work for mission control.

Aww, if only I'd known about this sooner! Totally would've watched the launch online (we don't get NASA TV here on campus...)

Check the Sci/Tech forum every once in a while in future, lots of exiting stuff going on there and we even have an inside-man in the NASA...
