Atlantis Gets Five Gemini Nominations

Cripes. Is TV in Canada that desperate for something to nominate? :rommie:

Probably.

I guess BSG doesn't count as Canadian by whatever standards they use. They should just toss out the rule book and nominate all American shows made in Canada. BSG and Stargate are equally American anyway and at least that way they can lay claim to something worth nominating.

Not true. Stargate may be partially funded by American investors, but it is produced in Canada. Hence the distinction.

Geezus, this means SG:A gets nominations and BSG doesn't. I need to go hit something. :p

BSG has enough undeserved awards already. Just let sleeping dogs die.

Google says..

produce - create or manufacture a man-made product

BSG is "produced" in Canada, it's filmed in Canada.

It's probably a technicality on the fact that the writing staff of Stargate is based in Canada while the writing staff of Battlestar Galactica/Caprica is based in the United States. Nevermind that both are being bankrolled by American corporations and have just as many principal actors from outside of Canada as they do Canadians (but plenty of supporting Canadian actors to get certain tax credits, of course!).

And that's why we are making fun of these awards. If there were a writer who was Canadian for BSG would it have been listed too?

These awards are stupid, and there are very few people here who seem to care at all about them.

Well, all awards are stupid, really, because it's just the industry congratulating themselves for doing their job.

Yet, in America, people spend hours watching them for some reason.
