The Asylum is at it again with their latest Hollywood mockbuster Atlantic Rim, a completely coincidental giant monsters vs. giant machines sci-fi action film coming out on home video July 9 -- just two days before Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim.

Will this become the next Avatar?

There have been a movie or two by them that I have actually liked. I damit they make many crappy low budget movies but they do make good trailers. I know I will see this! :)

Their Steampunk Sherlock Holmes movie where Sherlock fights dinosaurs and dragons from a hot air balloon was hilarious, and actually passably well made too.

I admire this company.

Holy shit, the ranking Navy officer is Rafe McCawley! That is awesome!

BTW, according to IMDB, the movie's name has been changed to From the Sea. I know this happens to a lot of The Asylum's movies here lately, especially when their titles are a bit too similar to the actual movie, like with Battleship's parody American Battleship had to be changed to American Warship.

It always cracks me up when I catch one of these cheapo movies on the Syfy Channel. Most of it is just people running around in the woods or an empty field or driving around in a van. You'd never know it was a scifi movie except for the occasional effects shot every 10 minutes.

I rented one of their movies a year or more ago. I cannot remember the title but it involved going back in time trying to rescue a group that already made the trip. While they are there they encounter some dionsaurs. All in all it wasn't that bad at all.

EDIT: The Land That Time Forgot

It was actually pretty descent.

This looks fucking wonderful.

This looks about as good as Pacific Rim does, honestly. I'm not excited about that movie at all.

Yeah, seen it, I quite enjoyed it too, at least as much as the movie it was intended to knock off.

It is still listed as Atlantic Rim at imdb.

Huh, this movie has been out since Monday over here. It's available on Amazon and also for rent on Lovefilm, and it is called Atlantic Rim.

That's not what I see at that link, I see Atlantic Rim on the cover, and as the IMDB title.

Maybe it knows I am in the UK? As i mentioned above, it is already out here, and is definitely called Atlantic Rim.

Take a look at the title. From the Sea (2013) "Atlantic Rim" (original title).
Link goes to Atlantic Rim. If you search for "From the Sea" it takes you to the same page, but, when you get to the page, there is no indication of From the Sea.

I'm in Sacramento, CA USA

Me? I'm waiting for the erotic parody...

Pacific Rimjob :wtf:

Sincerely,

Bill

The page tab is titled "From the Sea" and also, if you check out the pages for any of the actors it lists them as being in From the Sea, not Atlantic Rim.

Meanwhile, Wikipedia's page for the movie calls it Atlantic Rim but also notes two other alternate titles, Attack From Beneath and From the Sea.
