Up until now I had only heard of Verizon FIOS as a high speed fiber optic network. Now I just heard that AT&T has their own service, Uverse. How many people here have either one of these? What do you think of them?

(Not that it would change things here, since neither service is available where I live...I'm just curious. For example, if by some stroke of luck BOTH of them were to become available, I'd wonder which one to get.)

Both will never be available in the same area, so that's not a decision you'll ever have to make :p

Never thought about that bit. If anything it would probably be Verizon, as they have already reached Lincoln according to this map I found on dslreports.

Verizon uses conventional QAM cable TV signals inside your house, so you can connect HD Tivos and other consumer hardware. Uverse uses IPTV (internet TV) so you have to use their cable boxes and DVRs.
