at last; THE ISLAND

What I found interesting is that with a small amount of re-writing, The Island could work as a modern version of Logan's Run.

I do think it was better than most give it credit for.

I keep hearing about a LOGANS RUN remake. I hope, if they do, they dont tinker with it too much..just update the look, and actors, but keep it the same.

The mail order hookers HAS to stay!!!

It's not Bay's worst movie (that would be Pearl Harbor, which not even Revenge Of The Fallen could out-suck) but it's definitely in the bottom half of his oeuvre.

I would actually put this in Bay's top half of films (which, granted, isn't saying anything) with Bad Boys 2 and Transformers 2 at the very bottom. I think this was his first non-Bruckheimer movie, and for the first half, at least, it showed.

Fun fact: Michael Bay was one of the directors brought in for Phone Booth. His first reaction: "How do we take this story out of the phone booth?"

I like The Island well enough- Ewan McGregor and Sean Bean, what's not to love? The story was a great premise, very interesting even though its similar to an old Oliver Gruner movie called Automatic. Bay does sacrifice the more serious emotional, character moments, and social issues for action, of course. Remember the days when sf had only the basics of effects and action and the ethical debates and affects on the people were more important? <sigh>
