Ashes to Ashes Series 3 (may contain Spoilers)

amount of series is not the point I was making, what I meant was, was there always a plan for a 2nd person to enter the Gene Hunt verse, or was it just meant to be Sam and then out?

I meant I don't think it was the BBC telling them that 3 was the last one, I think it was the other way around.

I doubt Ashes to Ashes was on the cards until they couldn't complete their plans for Life on Mars.
What was their plans for series 3 of Life on Mars?

I don't think they've ever said, besides getting more in to Gene Hunt's story.

What a horrible episode. Normally I'm only annoyed by Shaz. This one made me think annoyed at Ray. So suddenly the guy is having mental problems because he never joined the army 20 years? Where was this issue before? He goes from being completely normal to having crazy eyes suddenly.

Oh and I find the guy with the glasses very annoying. Since he's in the credits I know he'll be in all the episodes. :(. If it wasn't enough to have a create a character that manages to get her self stabbed and cast an actress with a very annoying voice.

I think past episodes have shown us that Ray is not a happy man.

Or that he lied about being a soldier to the dating agency....

I just saw the episode this morning. I don't think it was quite as strong as the first two, but it was a fine episode none the less. Although we didn't get much development to the overarching mysteries, we got a better crime story as a result of the additional time alloted to it. i think the '83 elections were worked well into the plot, and Ray got some great scenes. It's wonderful how he's gone from the brute on Life on Mars to a brute who's become likable and understandable. I'm going to miss these characters when this is over.

I'm guessing next episode is going to be about Chris as that's the pattern they are setting up.

not sure about Chris but the best Life on Mars segment for Gene Hunt is obviously "take a look at the law man beating up the wrong man, wonder if hell ever know, hes the best selling show" which given what we are seeing this series, really makes you think "the best selling show" bit I mean.

Ray and Shaz have had a weird total darkness around them scene, I wonder what it all means, god I can't wait to find out. Its like a really cheap version of LOST at times this show

Liked the third episode, Ray has proven to be a great character, can't beleive he kissed Alex....but the itching powder line was funny.

With both Shaz and Ray, the guy with the glasses (Jim is it?) tried to tempt them away from Hunt. I wonder if all of them are being given a chance to escape before Hunt is destroyed (taking all those around him with him) or maybe it's the reverse, maybe Jim is, in some weird way, actually there to test Hunt, to see if they all stay loyal?

Then there's the guy with half a face...and I wonder...

We're kinda assuming Hunt has something to do with this, and that he might have killed Sam but what if...

Sam was responsible? What if Sam killed himself, or even if Gene had to take Sam down?

On the other hand, just last week he was trying to persuade Chris to join him in getting twin girls called in for questioning to give them both a hand job.

Well he's still Ray at the end of the day, he's just a Ray we understand and can like a bit more, and oft times his bark is worse than his bite. Did he get anywhere with those twins, no.

I always get the impression that after they go through their tough life trial they've passed over or changed and at that point things go dark. Gene usually gives them a reward at the restaurant and this triggers it. But what does it mean. Are they on Jim's side. I am guessing the exact same thing will happen with Chris next week, which is a little disappointing if they are going to do the same scene every week.

Well like I say it strikes me that they've either passed or failed a test. Wouldn't surprise me if Chris ends up doing the opposite to Shaz and Ray.

Did Chris have a black moment the phone rang so I missed a bit?
I could tell she was bent so that was a bit disappointing but I Loved the bit with the blue peter garden and the number plate that said nob.:guffaw: I wonder if Gene will have a moment next week?

Nope, there wasn't a blackout scene with Chris or anyone else this week. Whether it has anything to do with the fact that it was Jim who "saved" Chris and not Gene is something to think about.

I'm so hoping that Chris and Shaz get back together by the end of the show. They are my favorite pairing, way above Gene and Alex.
