Ash vs Evil Dead (new tv series)

I remember Bruce confirming the show on Twitter earlier this year, but he made it sound a little more like a cameo.

I wouldn't have thought he would want to come back to do that much, given his constant remarks about being too old or disinterested in doing so.

A 2015 miniseries, I don't know, it can't really capture the camp 80's/90's b-movie feel. Kind of the point of the reboot.

All 3 main games had a different take on the events after AoD, wonder if they'll work any of the storylines into it lol.

Just hope this isn't a setup for their rumoured "combined finale" movie.

I'm excited for it. Even though he's older, Bruce Campbell is as awesome as ever, and he's not that old. There are older actors doing action filled stuff in movies, and I think this has the potential to be great.

I think Starz is a fantastic home for this project as much as I'm surprised this is in the works. The producers have connection with the material and their show Spartacus seems like a good start for a show like this. Starz lets them have freedom of content and a willingness to embrace B-movie trashiness that might not fly as well on HBO or Showtime.

I'm really excited about this but I'm also really worried that this is a sustainable premise for a tv series. I hope they figure it out.

I've been waiting for Evil Dead 4 for twenty years.

Where's my damn boomstick?!

Grab a cheap PS2 and a copy of "Fistfull of Boomstick" and "Regeneration". Or failing that, there are two pretty fun ED games on iOS. Lots of deadite shooting antics.

That said, if they really go all out on this project, make it feel like the movies, it could be pretty awesome.

Couldn't help but be initially disappointed it would be a TV series (and only a 30 minute one at that), but given that it's on cable and being directed by Raimi with Bruce as Ash, I can still see it working really well and retaining a lot of what made the movies so awesome.

And Evil Dead also seems like a perfect fit for the more serialized kind of story that you can tell on cable, as we follow Ash on one long, crazy adventure over the course of the season (which is what I really hope they're planning to do, instead of having it be just be a bunch of standalone episodes where he fights Deadites in one place or another).

Ultimately though, as long as we get to see Bruce with his Boomstick and a chainsaw on his arm again, I'll be happy. :D

Bruce Campbell and Evil Dead on Starz? This will be totally psychotic. I'll be there. :rommie:

I've actually got a copy of Fistfull of Boomstick for my Xbox. It's simple and great fun. I know Bruce Campbell said it was the closest we'd ever see to Evil Dead 4 back when it came out but I'm glad that turned out to be wrong.

Groovy!

I know it's probably inevitable given Bruce's age, and the fact he can't be running around doing all the crazy action by himself anymore, but I really hope they keep the number of young sidekicks to a minimum in this.

Maybe have a couple of people by his side at the most.

Starz has announced today that Jill Marie Jones (“Sleepy Hollow”) will play the role of Amanda Fisher in the STARZ original series “Ash vs Evil Dead.” The series is the long-awaited follow-up to the classic horror film franchise The Evil Dead and is set to film on location in New Zealand this spring and premiere on STARZ in late 2015.

Following the grisly murder of her partner, disgraced Michigan State Trooper Amanda Fisher sets out to find our anti-hero Ash and prove his responsibility for the crime. But as she soon learns, Ash and his cohorts may be mankind’s only hope against the plague of EVIL DEAD.

She joins previously announced cast members Bruce Campbell (Ashley J. Williams), Ray Santiago (Pablo Simon Bolivar) and Dana DeLorenzo (Kelly Maxwell).

The STARZ Original series “Ash vs Evil Dead” will be 10 half-hour episodes. Bruce Campbell will be reprising his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip.

Sweet. Irving's wife is the star.

It's interesting that it's a half-hour show. You don't see that much these days. I wonder if they're going to pair it with another half-hour show.

Does this fit in with the 2013 film, or is it just a continuation of the first three classic films? I ask, because Bruce Campbell does appear as Ash post-credits in the 2013 film.
