Another new article about DS9, this time from Deadspin. Basically it talks about DS9's use of baseball (as opposed to the weird sports of the future that TNG made up) as one of the ways the show separated itself from other Trek. Click the link for the full article.

Last year Ben Lindbergh interviewed Ira Steven Behr for his Ringer MLB show about this episode. It was a pretty good interview, and this article was great too.

The more I watch Emissary the more I loved the use of Baseball as a metaphor for Linear time.

I always loved the baseball metaphor. It even gets called back to at the end of the season 6 opening arc when the prophets tell Sisko he is trying to control the outcome of the game.

Yep, the baseball metaphor is great. I know a few baseball fans that gravitate toward DS9 for that reason. Even though it wasn't used often in the episodes it works beautifully in the series premiere to explain to the prophets why linear existence is worth living.
Thanks for the reminder about the article Aragorn, saw it shared early this morning and forget to read it.
