Arrowverse's Crisis on Infinite Earths to be 5-Part Crossover

That contradicts what Harrison Wells said in Crisis on Earth X about how there are 53 versions of everyone.

No, it doesn't, because Harry is not omniscient. Just because he makes an assertion, that does not require it to be infallibly true. In this case, he had no possible way of knowing whether there was an exact duplicate of every single individual in the multiverse. He was clearly just making a blanket generalization to explain the idea of doppelgangers.

Something I STRONGLY hope WON'T happen. I like the multiverse the way it is...you know, multiverse-like.

I honestly don't know. I'm only speculating. But this is a chance to start to change things around. Do things that they didn't think of when Arrow started because they had no clue there would be a shared universe. If they don't bring Kara to Earth 1, I wouldn't mind Earth 1 getting its own Superman, with Kara still in space.

I don't expect, nor do I want, a faithful adaptation. I just want something awesome. You can't even do a faithful adaptation. Too many characters missing.

Things I want to see--

I want to see John Wesley Shipp return as Flash90. I want to do a REAL update, not a two second cameo. Make some actual references to that series. Have him play a role in a story arc that takes place on The Flash before the Crisis. Don't make him expendable or kill him. They disrespected the character last time. Change that.

Leave Superman out of it unless they actually use Superman, and not write him like they have been. I'd rather not see Superman at all than to see the character continue as is.

So beef up Supergirl's role. We aren't going to see her die in this Crisis and we aren't going to see Barry die either. In fact, don't kill anyone too big. Maybe a Legend other than Ray or Mick or Sarah.

On Arrow, the whole season should be Oliver's journey with Monitor.

The best thing about Supergirl's finale was that the Monitor was clearly going to revive Lex. Lex Luthor was the best thing about Supergirl since it moved to CW. It would have been very foolish to kill him, so having this out is great. Obviously, he has a role in COIE.

I'm fine with this being general concepts and not a faithful adaptation.

I'm just curious is something changed. An interview I heard with Cryer a few months back, he outright said that WB was only allowing Supergirl to use Lex for three episodes.

Maybe the popularity. Lex is an A list villain--so now that this is done, maybe an A list story could use him.

Thinking about it, one of the main characters in COIE was Alexander Luthor, the son of Lex Luthor on a parallel world.

I just saw this as well. Interesting. It means that it is also possible, if unlikely, Tom Welling or Dean Cain might appear.

To make the story work I am thinking they are looking for a Superman to sacrifice and Routh is conveniently contracted.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. I think it undermines the Arrowverse's established rules for doppelgangers if different actors play the same character. (After all, the "Barry Allen" of Earth-90 is implicitly the doppelganger of Earth-1's Henry Allen and Earth-3's Jay Garrick, the same genetic individual given different names in different realities, which is a different matter from the same individual having different genes.) On the other hand, the incorporation of Earth-90 (i.e. the 1990 The Flash TV series) does give us two different actors each playing characters named Henry Allen, Nora Allen, Iris West, and Sam Scudder (and possibly Leonard Snart, if we assume Leonard Wynter is an alias). So maybe that ship has already sailed.

Leaving aside in-universe logic, though, I do like the idea of giving Routh a second chance to play Superman and get it right this time. He didn't convince me as Superman in S. Returns, but he convinced me as Ray Palmer that he could've been a great Superman with better material and direction.

Well, the CW series could not handle adapting the magnificent plotting that was the comic version of Crisis on Infinite Earths, so I would never expect to see that in the TV version in any case.

Agreed. The predictable misuse of the character only makes his participation pointless. He's supposed to be Superman, and should be as involved as Superman was in the legendary comic version.

No, those series would never have the stones to make each season its last by killing the series leads. That would be a memorable way to adapt COIE, but again, we know that's not happening.

"Ray?! What are you doing, dressed like Superman?" - "I am Superman. And who's Ray?" - "Hey, guys, sorry I'm late, I was... is that me dressed like Superman? Wait, is there an Earth where I'm Superman?"

I put in another vote for Tom Welling as Superman. He was looking very fit with nice guns in Lucifer.

They should try to make a single-day theatrical event happen. I'd totally go see this on the big screen for five hours.

I just hope it’s not a cut away gag because legends of tomorrow is more goofy than the rest of the arrorwverse shows

Last season was the giant stuffed animal and the trinity commercial
