Arrowverse's Crisis on Infinite Earths to be 5-Part Crossover

The Legends of Tomorrow might not return with Season 5 until the year 2020, but they will be a part of the Arrowverse’s next crossover.

The CW president Mark Pedowitz announced on Thursday at the network’s Upfront presentation that the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” team-up event will be told in five parts over two quarters — meaning, it will start in December and then conclude early in the new year, following the midseason break.

TVLine has since confirmed with sources that the five shows taking part in the crossover will be Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Batwoman (which premieres this fall) and Legends. Three of the five parts will air in December, and the other two — including an episode of Legends, which this year premieres at midseason — will follow in early 2020. (It is unclear at this time what the second show airing its crossover episode in the new year will be.)

Since Legends missed the last crossover I'm glad it's part of this one. It sounds big. I hope they pull it off.

I'm really excited for this crossover. I'm not particularly interested in watching batwoman or LoT, but based off the last few crossovers the individual episodes won't really resemble the shows they're set in, its more like a 4-5 episode story with slight focus changes per episode, which should be fine.

I really hope that they go all out with it (give us some more John Wesley Shipp 90s Flash, please ) and that it ends up being really good. I've liked all the other crossovers so far, so I doubt that this one will be disappointing.

It sounds like I won't have to follow all the shows just because of this event. I might get the gist of it with Flash and Arrow mostly if there are tie ins. I was worried after the Arrow Finale that all the shows will be running with the Crisis narrative all season long, which would be really overwhelming.

6 full hour episodes might have been pushing things. However, an Easter egg nod to that Earth being part of the same multiverse would be very cool.

I have a question for some of you. Is there anyone here that doesn't watch all 4 (soon to be 5) shows?

If so, how does that affect the annual crossover event? If you don't watch say, Arrow, or Legends, does it make the crossover less cool for you?

Personally, I still feel that each show, except Batwoman, because it is establishing itself, should spend a good chunk of the pre-crossover setting it up.

COIE is such a huge event, but let's think of it as a comic book story.

Each show is its own comic book.

But a Crossover is an event story.

In comics, you would have say, COIE #1-#12. In this case, call each part COIE 1-5.

But DC doesn't stop publishing comics while an event is going on. Each title has its own characters and supporting characters experiencing the event from their point of view.

The main event is the Crossover comic where all the major stuff happens, but the titles are just as important as the raise the stakes and show how our favorite books are dealing with it.

I'd like to see next season mirror that on Supergirl, Legends, Arrow and Flash, especially Arrow and Flash.

Maybe start slowly, where the skies start turning red. They are doing their thing, but something pushing the Crisis moves forward every week. With the exception of Arrow, we don't see the Monitor much, maybe a little as the episodes get closer to the Crisis.

If there is any crossing over from one show to the next, it would be very minimal as that stuff is for the main event. I want the 5 episodes to be the conclusion of a great story--a pay off, not the whole thing.

I'm pretty much down to just watching Supergirl and LoT these days. I actually gave up on Arrow by the second season and while I really enjoyed the first season of "The Flash" the subsequent seasons have really been more lackluster as they went along. I finally gave up this season after yet ANOTHER Time Travelling Speedster storyline (Barry and Iris daughter from the future...) The whole time travelling speedster trope is WAY TOO OVERUSED on that show for my tastes.

As for Black Lightning, I stuck it out for one season; but the constant milking of the whole "reluctant hero - I want to, but I don't want to..." (which was fine for the first season); turned me off when it continued into the second season. By now he SHOULD have been able to make up his damn mind about it.

I did watch Arrow and Flash this season when they were involved in this past year's Crossover event and will watch all the shows involved with it this year too; but I won't watch them beyond that.

I didn’t see captain marvel but I saw endgame. Her presence was minimal so it didn’t hamper “endgame

Eh, I still say I want Supergirl to spend as little narrative capital on the crossover as possible. It's the only Arrowverse show I truly care about at this point, and I'd prefer the showrunners continue to tell the stories they choose without being sidetracked excessively by a superhero gangbang "event."

Didn't they write Captain Marvel after they wrote Endgame, so Captain Marvel was going to be an afterthought anyway? If Endgame was the first or even 5th Marvel movie you've seen I do think the impact would be significantly less than if you had seen all the prior Marvel movies.

As for the question, Maybe I am just not as impacted about this Crisis story, so I still plan to see Arrow, Flash, and then the 5 part actual crossover event. I don't really want to follow all these shows throughout the season just because of the event.

Didn't they write Captain Marvel after they wrote Endgame, so Captain Marvel was going to be an afterthought anyway? If Endgame was the first or even 5th Marvel movie you've seen I do think the impact would be significantly less than if you had seen all the prior Marvel movies.

It was the same way they handled Captain America (IE 'Marvels The Avengers' was written and filmed first; then they did "Captain America: The First Avenger".)

I've found that the crossovers don't require that you watch all the shows. They pretty much follow the main crossover storyline, with just a b-plot or two focused on whatever show you're watching. I didn't watch Arrow Season 4 and I haven't watched Season 6+, but I followed its episodes in the various crossovers just fine. Same with Legends Season 3+, and now supergirl Season 4.

Then again, since I used to watch Arrow and Legends I'm familiar with nost of those shows main casts anyway, so its different for me then it would be for someone who had never watched those shows (heck, one of the fun parts of the crossovers is that it lets me see some of the Arrow, Supergirl and LoT characters that I like but won't suffer through their crappy shows to see, like Mick, Supergirl or Diggle). I refuse to watch fake Batwoman though, so I'll be going into that part of the crossover blind (well mostly blind, I get the premise because I like the comic version of BW, but I won't be watching the show).

Depending on how the Crisis is handled, two things seem true to me:
1. If the Crisis is supposed to extend across the entire multiverse like it did in the comics, but Black Lightning isn't included, that would answer the question of whether they even exist in the same continuity and *could* crossover with a rather definitive negative, as far as I'm concerned, but
2. If the Crisis is shown as something that is more limited in scope, or that perhaps threatens to expand to include all of the infinite Earths unless our heroes stop it in time (and they will), then the question regarding Black Lightning's status remains open. UNLESS they do a really cool thing and have a version of Black Lightning from a universe adjacent to the one we're used to seeing on the Black Lightning show make an appearance.
2a (something that just made me think of ). Further along those lines, it would be really amazingly cool if they managed (licensing, actors, etc) to work a cameo or three from Earth-616 (MARVEL) into the thing!

Smallville characters (Arrow meets Arrow? Finally get Welling suited up?), Lois & Clark, a Superman from another world who looks just like Ray Palmer?

Also DC Daily unearthed the Superman Lives/FlyBy unused suit so it would be nice to see that make a cameo. (yes, an object, not a person!)

This is good to hear. The Batwoman show doesn't really appeal to me. The character isn't a classic comic book character, not one I have seen in other media other than a cartoon, and not one I care about. I may give the pilot a try. I may not. But that's why I ask. I see I'm not alone in that feeling, but my only concern is how it might affect my enjoyment of Crisis, which I am really looking forward to.

I would agree. Sounds like she's true to the comic version. But the trailer and premise just isn't my cup of tea.

I don't want any version of Superman in this crossover, unless it's Tom Welling and he does not die or be turned into Superwuss.

The Arrowverse treatment of Superman has been very disappointing to me, and my thinking is that if he's in this version, he will die just so we can see Kara holding his dead body in a role reversal.

I like the idea of both Earths dealing with red skies and the incoming danger. How about leading into Crisis, Earth 38 is destroyed, but Kara flees to Earth 1--where the final battle can begin?

Honestly I think we'll see Shipp back as Flash, but rights wise they probably can't do stuff like having Routh play Superman again. I'd love to see it, but I have a feeling we won't be getting much from any Earth that isn't already well established in the DC CW shows, meaning we'll get Supergirl, probably 90s Flash, and maybe Jesse Quick, Gypsy and/or Jay Garrick but that will probably be it for characters from other Earths (assuming that Batwoman isn't set on her own Earth). I want crazy stuff, but I don't think they'll go too far with it, unfortunately.

The real Batwoman is a pale woman with natural red hair, and that's just talking about her iconic look (one of the few heroes who needs a certain look/ethnicity, because her being a pale ginger is pretty damn core to the look), not to mention all the backstory differences. I mean, TV "Batwoman" is closer to the actual Batwoman then, say, those fucking awful fake Legion of Superheroes characters on Supergirl or the Fake JSA on LoT were to the characters they were (supposedly) based on, but that's a very, very low bar.

CW's batwoman is a generic brown haired woman who shares barely any backstory connections with the real Batwoman, she only exists because the CW can't make the Batman show it would obviously like to make, so they've made her as close to Bruce as they can get away with to compensate for not being allowed to use Batman.

Disagree. If they follow Crisis, the end result will be that they will feel the need to have additional crossovers on a more-or-less annual basis that attempt to fix all the stuff they're about to eff up during Crisis - but they'll just makes things even worse every time.
