It is possible that Mia will be born during the summer break. They keep her secret not because of what happened to the city, but because of what is already happening and they want to keep her hidden.
Hmm... given that Emiko evidently hates the Queen family enough to arrange the murder of her own father and the attempted murder of her half-brother Oliver, she might also be willing to target Oliver's daughter. Maybe that's why they hide her.
That's Mia Deardon. IIRC she contracted AIDS as a sex worker living on the streets. It is certainly possible that the current Mia could have been in similar circumstances at some point but there has been no hint of that so far.
Like Tony or Carol's alcoholism, things change for heroes.
Except for the reveal that Emiko is the leader of the 9th Circle, I enjoyed the episode. Man the Queen family had a ton of issues.
A bit of the dialogue there was unclear to me... While Emiko was clearly Dante's boss instead of the other way around, she had a line suggesting that she was still reporting to someone higher. "So-and-so still has faith in you, don't prove them wrong" or something like that.
I enjoyed this week's episode much more than last week. It had some nice twists and turns. Going into it, I was so hoping that Talia was Emiko's real mother, and I was stoked when Oliver mentioned her because I thought it was foreshadowing, but oh well, I still enjoyed the real twists in the story. (Side note: I think Adrian Paul would've made for a good Ra's Al Ghul; wish they had cast him for that role in Season 3).
I liked learning more about Emiko's past and was surprised that she is Dante's boss, and also that she either sabotaged the Queen's Gambit or is hinted to have played a role in doing so, which could make her the uber Arrow villain, the one who started it all in a sense. Or could that dubious honor go to Robert Queen, who definitely isn't winning any father of the year awards.
This episode felt more focused than usual, and it asked some good questions. I liked the back and forth early in the episode among Team Arrow about whether they can trust Emiko or Laurel. I also like that Laurel's starting to feel constrained by the district attorney job, which I would expect for a supervillain who usually flouts the rules/law.
I'm curious to see where they will go with Emiko. I was thinking before the end of the episode there would be a path for redemption. I do like her friendship with Wild Dog. However, with her being the boss of Dante, ordering Oliver's death, and then if she really did sabotage the Queen's Gambit, I can't see them going the redemption route fully, at least this season.

I am still not really buying it. For one, she is younger than him and he took her in when she was just a kid. He is supposedly an incredibly experienced and dangerous arms dealer. If he is such a big bad villain, why would he submit to a young woman who he took in and trained? My impression is that she is using her strengths as a fighter and her connection to Oliver to boss him around but she is not really his boss. As Christopher alluded to, it is likely that there is still someone higher up the food chain in the 9th Circle. Emiko is just trying to push Dante around to get ahead in the organization.
No, I think she's already gotten ahead. It was quite clear in those final scenes that she was the boss and Dante had defied her authority by acting on his own. Even though she started as his pupil, presumably she was ambitious enough, and impressed the senior leadership of the Ninth Circle enough, that they promoted her above her mentor.

At first, I was skeptical as well, but I quickly thought about Shinzon and the Viceroy and how Shinzon, somehow, came to lead the Remans, and earned the loyalty of the Viceroy despite the fact that it was the Viceroy that basically saved his life and had to be the one who taught him everything he knew.
It would make sense there there is a Ninth Circle ultimate boss or bosses (still hoping for another Talia appearance), but even if that were so, it doesn't change that Emiko is Dante's boss, at least for whatever they've got planned in Star City.
If Emiko wasn't his boss, why would Dante allow her to boss him around? That would weaken his position. From the beginning he established that if she attempted to steal from him again (in a way a challenge) he would kill her. Why would he change that now? Granted, he could be manipulating her, stroking her ego, but in light of their history, why would he? She already felt indebted to him. He already has her loyalty.
This was another good one. I knew pretty much right away that Emiko really was loyal to The Ninth Circle, but I did not expect her to be Dante's boss.
It was nice to get some flashbacks for her. I'm curious exactly how she was involved in the Queen's Gambit going down, since we already dealt with that ages ago.
So is Archer going to go out of control because The Ninth Circle got control of it? That definitely seemed like that could be what they were setting up at the end there.
We got some good stuff for Laurel again this week, it makes sense she'd have trouble playing by the rules after spending so much time as a villain.

As I said, I presume that she was the one Malcolm Merlyn hired to plant the bomb on the yacht. Malcolm's name was on the invoice she burned.
Alena suddenly showing up again at this point makes me suspicious that she'll turn out to be working for the Circle. But maybe I'm influenced by Kacey Rohl's bad-girl character on The Magicians.
I suppose Emiko could have blown up the Queen's Gambit and then had second thoughts about finishing the job afterward with Oliver. She may even have secretly arranged some of Oliver's training (given that they both happened to end up rather attached to bows and arrows and Emiko was using those tools before Oliver ended up on that island). Such secret protectiveness could also explain her killing Diaz.

I'm sure that there are some ugly comments about EBR leaving. People can be so nasty. I'm guessing she will be back for at least the series finale.
