Arrow/Flash Superhero Team-Up Spinoff In Works At CW

Stein talked about "reincarnation" in the trailer.
I know that, I was just wondering if they were also going to bring Thanagar into it too. I was reading about the character on Wikipedia this morning and it said that in one version the Egyptian character found Thanagarian Nth metal. I was thinking something along those lines.

A lot of that is the convoluted history to resolve problems from Crisis on Infinite Earths in the 80s. The character can easily be done as either a Thanagarian on Earth or as a human with the Egyptian mythology connection and it would be much simpler to explain.

(You probably know this, but then again, maybe you liked sleeping in on Staurdays?)

In the animated series 1999 - 2002... Hawkgirl was just there from the beginning, claiming to have been a space cop that fell through a wormhole and didn't know how to get home. Last 6 episodes of season 2, it's revealed that she is a scout for an invasion tasked specifically to neutralize Earth's super humans, because the invasion starts happening.

So a couple years later, Hawkman shows up claiming to be a resurrected Pharaoh and that Shiera, if she'd just hook her brain up to the magic talisiman he'd found, would also remember her life ruling Egypt by his side as Hawk Gods...

"You moron! That's a ships log from a crashed Thanagarian scout ship that your rasin sized human brain is too apelike to telepathically process and file!"

I think the series started a little later than that but I do remember. Didn't the new 52 do something similar?

I've never seen him in anything, but he definitely has the right look.

Dirty foreigner.

Ooh--it'll have tonal "elements" from Giffen & DeMatteis's JLI run! That could be fun. Will they do a poster emulating the iconic Kevin Maguire cover pose?

Those look pretty good. I still like Michael Shanks' Smallville Hawkman costume more, but those are pretty good live action hawk costumes.

The costumes remind me more of Night Owl II from the Watchmen movie more than any previous comics incarnation of the Hawks, and I'd prefer a Hawkgirl/Hawkwoman with redder hair, and I really want to see the wings...

...but, it's Hawkman and Hawkgirl/woman!

Do we know if they're going with the Egyptologist origin or the Thanagarian origin? I prefer the latter, to be honest, especially if it's closer to Hawkworld than the Silver Age, but I can make my peace with the former.

Apparently they're going with the characterization from Geoff Johns' JSA run, with Hawkman believing them to be the reincarnation of destined lovers, and Hawkgirl not really buying into that, as Executive Producer Phil Klemmer said in an interview a while ago.

Phil Klemmer said:
... the way we’ve imagined them is that they’ve obviously been reincarnated through the ages together, but the fact that he remembers their previous lives and she doesn’t… it gives them very much like a Bogie & Bacall sort of [relationship].
...
They’re constantly fighting, and the fact that they’re destined to be in love is something that seems impossible to her.
That’s the kind of sentimentality that we really strive to avoid on this show. The fact that they’re going to be together someday, we try desperately at every moment to disprove that, this is going to be the one time that they decide to, like, shoot each other in the face.

Its been confirmed to by the Egyptologist origin. I am curious how much they will show of their previous lives? Given the overall premise of the show is time travel, they or other members of the team could meet earlier incarnations of them in other time periods.

I really like it. Imagine how good they will look with the wings! Which have been reported to be CGI.

I wonder if they are shooting out of sequence from the actual airing order. They are filming the first episode of Legends now. But I do not think they have filmed the Arrow/Flash crossover which will setup the series yet.
