Yep, originally Hawkman and Hawkgirl were Ancient Egyptian royalty reincarnated in the 20th Century as Carter Hall and Sheira Saunders. I always liked that more than the alien space cops.
Rip Hunter is Booster Gold's son IIRC so Booster Gold may show up eventually.
Yes I know this, it was a big part of the Johns JSA, but with Kendra it wasn't a "traditional" reincarnation since Sheira's soul replaced somebody else's (hence the whole ongoing discomfort between her and Carter).
Not to mention the link's bit about "growing wings out of her back" and "manifesting an ancient warrior" like some sort of Avatar State.
The current Kendra has natural wings. And the current Hawkman can grow wings. Having Hawkgirl's wings appear and disappear at will makes sense for the TV show. That way they don't have to worry about prop or CGI wings in every scene.
Johns' version of Hawkman had berserker rages were he went all Bronze Age and was called "Conan with wings". I assume that is the inspiration for the "manifesting an ancient warrior" angle.
Should be interesting to see Hawkgirl, my only familiarity with her comes from Justice League. So it sounds like they're be going with the Ancient Egyptian reincarnation instead of alien version of Hawkgirl. I wonder if they'll be a Hawkman involved?
I really know absolutely nothing about Rip Hunter, but I thought Darvil was great on Dr. Who, so I'm thrilled he'll be on this. According to CBR Hunter is one of the character's whose never been on live action TV before, so I wonder who the other two will be. Somebody mentioned Vandal Savage up thread, is there a big connection between him and Hunter?

Cool, thanks for the update. Current Kendra is Earth 2, right? I always figured Hawkman's berserker rages were just cause he tended to be a bit of an asshole who happily went for the violent solution, but it's all good and I'm looking forward to this.
The main connection between Hunter and Savage was in the Time Masters miniseries in the 1980s. Hunter tries to prevent the founding of the Illuminati by killing Vandal Savage in the past. I have no idea if that will be an influence but Savage is a great villain.
Also a reincarnated Hawkgirl who has lived though the centuries would nice tie-in to the immortal Vandal Savage. There could be a long time battle between them.

Having Rip there also eliminates the need for any resurrection story with Canary. He may simply grab her before she heads up to the roof or really at any point before her death. Keeping that secret from her could be a nice storyline running through the first season.
Whatever he needs her for, he will have to put her back at some point. They do have a body on Arrow.
When it comes to time travel she can live the entirety of this new show's run and be returned an instant before her death if need be.

This makes me think of the BSG recapper at the old TwoP. He proclaimed in season 2, while reviewing the ep just before we assumed President Roslyn would succumb to her cancer that she COULDN'T be allowed to die. He didn't care how they did it, he didn't care if someone came up with a magic gun that shot Roslyn "just" in the cancer. He just KNEW she shouldn't be lost from this story.
And he was right... right up to the finale 2 years later.
I'm not sure what it is about Caity Loitz, but she captures the audience's attention as easily as Sara captures Ollie's or Nyssa's or even Felicity's attention.
I will love it if they bring her back for this new series... and I will be on pins and needles waiting for her to die again if this time traveler theory really does mean she eventually goes back to that rooftop and her unfortunate encounter with Thea.

Obviously they need some type of place holder until they settle on a final title. This is really just for internal production. I doubt that will be the actual title. Though it does show that Brandon Routh is probably the main leader of the team.

More likely, he switches bodies and takes her to the Lazarus Pit so it is not really Sarah buried in Arrow. I am thinking we will see the return of Sarah before the end of Arrow's season though.
It would be interesting if this were actually a time travel series similar to the Booster Gold series from a few years back.
