Armageddon Vs. Deep Impact.

Just as the title says. Which of these two doomsday/asteroid movies do you prefer and why? Do you like them both? (Do you hate Armageddon with a burning passion? :rommie:)

I like them both, personally.

Anyone else?

I like them both. When I want an action packed popcorn flick, I watch Armageddon. When I'm more in the mood for drama I watch Deep Impact. Overall I prefer Armageddon.

Deep Impact. What the Zombie Cheerleader said, but also Robert Duvall stole the show for me (he got front billing, but he wasn't really the main character, yet I still think his performance was the most outstanding). Deep Impact was also the more "serious" of the two, and it had a more realistic tone.

I haven't seen either in ages, but I recall liking Deep Impact more, generally for the reasons noted above. But also as noted above, if I was in the mood for brainless fun I might go in the other direction.

Both ... By incorporating both and there is a good balance of factual and fun. Mmm fascinating...:vulcan:

Armageddon

Awesome, dumb and inaccurate action movie that has you standing up halfway through the movie to sing the US national anthem :lol:

I love this movie.

Obama stole the thunder from Morgan's casting, because it turned "stunt casting" into simply "casting".

I wish Obama had turned out to be half as good a president as the fictional one in the movie. :(

I don't know how good the president was in Deep Impact. Did you see all those people clogging the roads toward the end of the movie? They must have been unemployed or else they would have been at work. :D

I like them both. My favorite part is that they both have excellent orchestral scores.

They're both pretty dumb movies, and I love them both, but I'd say I got a little more out of the cast and absurdity of "Armageddon."

A combination of the two would have been good.

The characters in Deep Impact are annoying (especially Dr. Weaver from ER), and Armageddon is too silly.

Armageddon. I prefer too silly to hopelessly maudlin, except for Tea Leoni, who had the emotional presence of a mothball in this movie.
