Area 51: The verdict

Area 51; The verdict

  • I believe that Alien tech was once kept, if not there, somewhere

  • Just a bunch of hooey..at best its a place to test our cutting edge technology

  • Hmmmm..let me think on this for another fifty years or so

So it is pretty common knowledge now that Area 51 exists, or did exist. It is suspected at housing alien tech and the like...even dead alien bodies...

We are a scifi crowd here, so we know all the movies and Tv shows (even DS9) that have eluded to this material...but what do you really think???

Area 51--the Verdict

Twenty years ago, or was it thirty, while in the USAF...

I was at Area 51.

TV, the Movies and the Conspiracy folks have it wrong.

The Aliens were at Wright Peterson AFB.

They don't even test advanced secret stuff there any more.

Each manufacturer has their own secret sites.

The legendary Hangar 18? My father was stationed at Wright Pat for a while. He said there was A hangar (not numbered 18 in any way) that was constantly under armed guard, and he never saw anyone go in or out, but he also said that's hardly unusual.

No doubt it was where J Edgar Hoover held his stag parties.

I personally believe that there is something worth hiding at Area:51 otherwise why guard it and classify it as they've done for the past fifty or so years. I also have heard about Hangar 18 as well and isn't that where Bob Lazar was working or was that Area 51?

If you were working on top-secret military hardware, would you want people just poking around? It doesn't have to be aliens or anything like that. It can just be very sensitive, advanced technology.

I do believe that the base exists. I don't believe that it has alien stuff. Nor I don't believe it is a development platform for military hardware.

I expect it to be a research centre for some controversial subject that would be an international embarrassment for the US should information have leaked out. Thus the use of military to guard it like fort knox while formally denying its existence. Remember it was the 1950s, so... experiments on humans; messing with human genetics; stuff they raided from the nazis; chemical or biological or viral weapons (hiv?); nuclear research; or whatever. I'm only guessing possibilities.

A common story from people who claim to have been/worked there is that they developed unusual health problems. I like to think that's relevant.

It definitely exists, is highly secretive, and probably has a bunch of cool (human made) test aircraft. I doubt there is alien saucers, or bodies, or any of that other stuff there.

i agree with that. can't see that anything alien would have been stored there. As for the very tight security that's probaly for any very top secrect technology they may have developed, wasn't the sr-71 black bird devolped there? or was that at the factory from... sorry can't remeber the company might have been lockheed though i'm probaly wrong often am

Groom Lake is home to Dreamland, the USAF secret hi-tech weapons lab, also known as High-technology Aerospace Weapons Centre or HAWC.

cuz, y'know, i read Dale Brown and his shit's real.

EB-52 Megafortress muthafakkas!

Bob Lazar claims to have worked at Area 51 and that they are reverse-engineering alien craft there and in camouflaged hangers built into nearby mountainsides.

Area 51 has gotten so popular with UFO and black-project fans that the military is bugging out of there, though, for someplace less public, is one rumor.

I've never seen a UFO and am still not a believer; but I find the stories very entertaining and interesting in some cases -- especially those reports from pilots, military and police personnel and people from space programs, from around the world. I subscribe to the UFO Updates list and get daily news and discussions from them.

One of the most entertaining and chilling sets of reports are the audio files from calls to the National UFO Reporting Center, dating back several decades, on CD from editor and archivist Wendy Connors. It's 44 hours of spooky fun.

I've seen a lot of the claims that A51 houses something sinister, but I have to agree with the majority that I'm not yet convinced. I personally think it's not impossible for a major government, particularly in the U.S. or Russia, to be capable of a big coverup over a long period of time. I just don't seen any hard evidence that that's the case.

LCARS 24, thanks for that link; it looks like fun reading.

Here is a picture of one of the Lockheed Skunk Works patches.

There is an interesting slide show and audio program on black-ops patches, called Badges of Secrecy from Newsweek, covering publication of a book by Trevor Paglin, entitled "I Could Tell You But Then You Would Have to Be Destroyed by Me: Emblems from the Pentagon's Black World."

He came across the phenomenon while researching military secrets for his geography dissertation at UC Berkeley. His academic work concerns how the government goes about "disappearing" places.

Well, without derailing the thread with my views on alien visitation and the possability of technology being captured, I'll just say this;

Area-51 is still very much an operational USAF base with security the likes of which makes Fort Knox look like it could broken into easily. I think it is still the home of alot of testing operations for the latest in aerospace technology. Hell, the "state-of-the-art" F-22 is already nearing it's 20th birthday since the introduction of the prototype which just makes me wonder what those test pilots over there are flying now.

I have often heard people claim that Area-51 has packed up and moved someplace else because of "pressure from sight seers" or something like that. First of all, most, if not all of these claims, can be traced right back to an article Popular Mechanics ran back in the late 90s. In it, the writer, Bob Wilson, claimed he even drove all the way up to the front gates of the base without being disturbed and that proves the base must have moved. That's all fine and good, but what isn't very widely known is that Bob Wilson was incompetent when it came to reading a map. His sensational story was all based on a visitation to a wholly different and unrelated facility that Wilson mistook for Area-51. No joke.

Secondly, there's really no "pressure" coming from sightseers. The point where the tourists can be shot on sight begins a full ten to fifteen miles from the actual perimiter of the base. And the peaks where people could actually get a glimps of the base itself had been cordoned off years ago. The base continues to do it's thing unseen and unbothered. The dozens of commuter flights and buses to and from the base is a testimate to its activity which, if anything, is even greater than it's ever been previously.

Can we locate it on google earth?

I'd be interested to see the [?] hole, or fake texture photoshop'd over the site.

Plainly visible with Google Earth...

In fact there are web sites that will sell you a "3x4 foot" poster.

You coud find it with just Google maps from Google.Com

Google maps... Yes I've just tried that. CLICK HERE FOR ALIENS

Incredible detail. You can even see the planes and cars lined up. :) Assuming that is the correct site and not misdirection. I wonder why they don't allow photos when we have a 10 megapixel aerial photo via google maps?
