Yeah, I am.

Still paying off hubby's med bills and the cards we put some on. 26 + years left on mortgage due to old house flood 6 yrs ago w/ no flood insurance.

Daughter's student loans.

Some bits of savings, but not enough to clear it all up.

We will be okay if nothing else "not fun" hits.
(crosses fingers and mumbles prayers of a sort.)

I have a home mortgage and a car payment (one year left on the car) but no credit card debt. The debt I hate the most, though, is $2000 I am paying off to my lawyer. That is debt that I was FORCED into by my ex-wife and so it f'ing stings the worst.

On the other hand, I was just handed a significant raise at work, which is going to include 6 weeks retroactive on both salary and an adjustment to my 80 hour buyback last week. I will likely pay off at least half of my lawyer debt with those monies.

Being held financially responsible for someone else's malice SUCKS like nothing else, and is such an indignity to endure, especially when the amount is a hardship. I can relate, and I'm really sorry you've had to go through that.

The news with your job is great, however.

I have a car loan, so I suppose my answer is yes. I keep it under control though so I'm not too worried.

Yes. I'm not going to say how much. It's preventing me from building up a surplus so I can quit a job I'm sick of.* How can I have a six-month cushion when I'm paycheck-to-paycheck and no one's hiring?

* Don't tell me "You're lucky to even have a job!" I've heard all that before. I'm not unemployed but I am one of the underemployed. What good is a job that makes it difficult if not impossible to keep up with my finances, is dead-end, and only good enough to keep from me starving to death? I should've had my head examined three years ago when I decided I wanted to work for a community college.

I absolutely hate that line. Yeah, I know a lot of people are unemployed right now, but that doesn't mean that financially treading water is fun.

Anyway, yeah, I have a fair chunk of debt due to my undergrad. Most of it is to the government of Ontario, thankfully, so I don't have to pay it off right now if I don't want to, but since I'm doing okay at the moment, I'm paying off a little bit every month. I'm looking at doing my Masters next year, so every little bit helps.

Yep - though not too bad. Have run up about $2000 worth of medical debt in the last 3 months. Will be paid off as quickly as I can.

Mortgage, car payments, small amount of CC debt that I can pay off within three months (just paid for a trip). My wife has some student loans but they're nearly paid off now.

Yeah, I've run up some debt since I left BMC; I should do something about that one of these days. :rommie:

Thankfully, no. I rent, so no mortgage for now, and I finished car payments last year. I have a credit card but normally I don't use it. I have a prepaid debit card for small purchases and internet shopping, which is more than enough for me.

Student debt, but that doesn't really count as its income tied and I don't have to pay it back if I can't afford to.
Otherwise, no. I live to my paycheck. I don't have the savings I'd like, but I don't have debts.

I don't know if you are aware but the student debt payment system is changing and the rates of interest will be changing, so you might want to look into how much you will be paying each year.

No, I rent, I don't drive, I don't have a credit card (only a payment card) and I was given money by the state to be a student.

Renting is just the same as paying a mortgage, except that a mortgage is actually an asset which accrues value so long as it's maintained. That's why mortgages shouldn't be included, since everyone pays for accommodation one way or another once they leave the family home.
