Are we likely to see an original cut of Rogue One? (possible spoilers)

What a great publicity stunt it would be to make a trailer with NO scenes from the actual movie. LOL

That's been done with some teaser trailers, actually. Like some Pixar teaser trailers have been scenes created exclusively for the trailer, little mini-skits to whet our appetite. I think the teaser for The Incredibles was a scene of the overweight Mr. Incredible struggling to get into his costume, which wasn't in the film (it was the new costume, and the actual film had him getting back in shape before he got the new costume). And the teaser trailer for Sam Raimi's first Spider-Man was an exclusive made-for-the-trailer scene of a helicopter getting caught in a giant web Spidey had spun between the World Trade Center towers -- which had the ill fortune of being released in August 2001, so it didn't stay in circulation long.

I don't think anyone's done a full, multiple-scene trailer consisting entirely of scenes that weren't in the movie, though Rogue One's trailers come pretty close.

Yeah, that Spider-Man trailer was great, but it was also pretty clear from the way it was presented that it wasn't intended as a trailer, but rather a teaser of what was going to be the character's first big-budget incarnation.

Although many people nonetheless assumed that it was supposed to be in the movie. There was a widespread myth that the twin-towers gag was cut out of the movie because of 9/11, which had to be debunked by the producers saying it had never been meant as anything but a teaser. Because anything that's "clear" to the observant and thoughtful is bound to be missed by a huge number of people who just make kneejerk assumptions.

There was the more obvious one that was the Addams Family teaser set in a theater setting. (which was based on one of Addam's cartoons).

I think The Simpsons Movie had a teaser trailer involving the family watching a movie and Homer making a scene in the theater.
