Are these people alive?

The late report of Barry russo's death made me wonder about a few TOS actors who were fairly old when the series was filmed and have dropped totally off the map.

Vince Howard------was the black actor who the salt vampire took the form of to lure Uhura.
He seemed to have stopped acting in the 1990s....

Natalie Norwick----played the wife of Dr Leighton in 'Conscience...'

Tom Curtis-----played (uncredited officer) 'Mike' in Court-Martial--he looked mid 40s then & stopped acting in the 1970s

Bart Conrad----played Krasnovsky (board member) also in Court-Martial---gotta be be pushing 100 if alive.

John Wheeler--played 'Gav' the telleraite in 'Journey...'

Lloyd Kino----played Wu, one of less than 10 asian actors with speaking roles in TOS, in 'Omega...'

Morgan Jones ---played a security guard in 'Assignment:...'

Alan Bergmann----played one of the Vians (Than?) in 'Empath'

And lastly, Joan Swift----who played Aurelan Kirk in Operation:...'

We were at a convention in Palm beach, Fla in 1991 with Doohan promoting TUC and this 60ish woman walked up and started talking to my wife and asking about the convention. We were in the lobby before you pay and go in. She told my wife she had played 'Kirk's sister-in-law during her brief acting career in the 1960s. My wife said some nice thing about her being connected to the show and asked for her autograph. She signed it 'Joan Swift.'

It was hard to tell after 20+ years if she really was who she claimed and i hadn't really looked that hard at her face the last time I had seen the episode, but it might have been her.

If true, she was one of only 3 actors to play a 'Kirk' in TOS----kind of neat claim to fame.

It made me wonder why more 'bit actors' from TOS don't try to cash in a little on their brief brush with fame in TOS.

All they'd have to do is come up with a couple of antecdotes from their filming to make the story have some potential interest to fans.

I would have thought their kids or grandkids might have said, "Wow, you were in Star Trek in the 1960s---that cool
you should put that on the internet

Good idea, Trek's version of "where are they now?" Somewhere online is the story of the young T'Pring, a nice story if you can find it. I also wonder about the youngest star in Trek, most likely the "actor" who played Leonard James Akaar. Where's that baby now?

^^Yep, someday perhaps 50-60 years from now that 'baby' might be the last person to appear in TOS left alive.

Although a decent number of the kids from 'Miri' might have a chance at that little piece of history.

The Social Security Death Index lists a Natalie Norwick (28 May 1923-20 Dec 2007) as dying in Pompano Beach, Fla. Not much else, but its probably her.

I'm cuious to know if some of actress that played as Kirk's love intrest is still alive or not, you know like Edith Keeler,Carol Marcus, and the others? I also want to know if some of the ladies that Spock fell for is alive as well. And also is the ones who played Spock's parents alive? I'm not for sure on some of these actors/actress who played the charcters, thats why I'm asking. The only actors I'm familar with thats not here anymore is: DeForset Kelly (McCoy) James Doohan(Scotty) Majel Barrett Rodenbery (Chapel). Its just the ones from from rest of the show and 6 movies I'm not familar with on whos alive and not.

Joan Collins (aka Edith Keeler) is alive and well....(and I've known her from Dynasty, Batman; her sister is a novelist, I believe)...

Bibi Besch (aka Carol Marcus) passed away in 1996, unfortunately...
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000935/

Both Mark Lenard (the original Sarek) and Jane Wyatt (the original Amanda Grayson) have passed away, unfortunately....

Mark Lenard (dod:1996):

Jane Wyatt (dod:2006)

Oh, okay. Thank you for some of imformation, I just wasnt sure on some of those actors. I'm more familar with the charcters than I'm with the actors who played them, well except for Sarek, I knew the name of the actor who played him (watched TOS and 6 movies a lot). I thought I heard about him pased away somewhere here on a Star Trek site, but wasnt for sure. Anyways , thank you. Besides do you know if some of the actors who played the main cast is alive? The only ones I know that are still alive is: Shatner (Kirk) Nimoy (Spock) Takei (Sulu) Nichoils (Uhura) Koeing (Cheov). The other main chacters I know thats not here anymore are : McCoy, Scotty and Chapel. But what the ones who played on there for a short time example Yeoman Rand and so on? Sorry if I'm asking too many questions, I'm just curios I guess.

Thanks for the update on Natalie Norwick.

For a second i thought you wrote the other lady i mentioned.
We met her just a few miles down the road from where Ms Norwick passed away.

All at a relative young age and most from cancer.

None of those names appear on this page, which doesn't constitute proof that they're all still alive, but PKerr has put a fair amount of effort into keeping it up-to-date.

I don't know that I'd be too quick to assume it's the same person. I also find a March 2005 obituary for a man which names Natalie Norwick of Oceanside, California (San Diego County) as his surviving wife, and there's no guarantee that this is the same woman, either.

That's a great site. Very nice and attractive and i check it all the time.
i hope others check it out as well.
He only adds a name if he's sure the person has passed.

But he has apparently been busy and hasn't updated it in about six months---since at least Ricardo montalban passed.

A few of those names have done autograph cards in recent years. I know Wheeler, Kino, and Bergmann for sure have. That's not saying there still alive now, but if they did pass it would be fairly recently I would guess.

I remember wanting to get Justman's autograph just as I got into collecting last year.

Then I heard news about him passing away and was saddened.

If Gene was the soul of Star Trek, Justman truly was its heart. He made it WORK.

Thanks for that!!

If they fairly recently did the autograph cards it means they haven't fallen off the face of the earth, show business-wise, and their recent death would likely have been reported.

Well, to be fair, just because they're known to us Trek geeks....doesn't mean anybody else has heard of them (sad to say).

The saddest part for me is that I'm officially older than Star Trek(turned 1 in December after the premiere in September '66), so the whole thing came out in my lifetime, and so many of those who gave me such wonderful memories are gone.
