The late report of Barry russo's death made me wonder about a few TOS actors who were fairly old when the series was filmed and have dropped totally off the map.
Vince Howard------was the black actor who the salt vampire took the form of to lure Uhura.
He seemed to have stopped acting in the 1990s....
Natalie Norwick----played the wife of Dr Leighton in 'Conscience...'
Tom Curtis-----played (uncredited officer) 'Mike' in Court-Martial--he looked mid 40s then & stopped acting in the 1970s
Bart Conrad----played Krasnovsky (board member) also in Court-Martial---gotta be be pushing 100 if alive.
John Wheeler--played 'Gav' the telleraite in 'Journey...'
Lloyd Kino----played Wu, one of less than 10 asian actors with speaking roles in TOS, in 'Omega...'
Morgan Jones ---played a security guard in 'Assignment:...'
Alan Bergmann----played one of the Vians (Than?) in 'Empath'
And lastly, Joan Swift----who played Aurelan Kirk in Operation:...'
We were at a convention in Palm beach, Fla in 1991 with Doohan promoting TUC and this 60ish woman walked up and started talking to my wife and asking about the convention. We were in the lobby before you pay and go in. She told my wife she had played 'Kirk's sister-in-law during her brief acting career in the 1960s. My wife said some nice thing about her being connected to the show and asked for her autograph. She signed it 'Joan Swift.'
It was hard to tell after 20+ years if she really was who she claimed and i hadn't really looked that hard at her face the last time I had seen the episode, but it might have been her.
If true, she was one of only 3 actors to play a 'Kirk' in TOS----kind of neat claim to fame.
It made me wonder why more 'bit actors' from TOS don't try to cash in a little on their brief brush with fame in TOS.
All they'd have to do is come up with a couple of antecdotes from their filming to make the story have some potential interest to fans.
I would have thought their kids or grandkids might have said, "Wow, you were in Star Trek in the 1960s---that cool
you should put that on the internet
