I don't get it. All I'm seeing is a passage about a Bolian running around in a station that's been attacked. Is it the "Fyyl"?

Tourette Syndrome is a condition that can cause people to blurt out random vocalizations -- sometimes profanities, though the frequency of that is greatly exaggerated in popular perception (it happens in maybe 10% of cases). So I don't think SicOne was saying it was obscene, just that it was a blurted non sequitur.

I would recommend reading Section 31: Abyss and Articles of the Federation before reading Zero Sum Game. They are certainly not necessary, but I felt having read them was helpful. For some scenes, reading Trill: Unjoined might also be useful.

To be able to read Zero Sum Game you have to have read Articles of the Federation. To read Articles of the Federation, you have to have read ever Star Trek book that came before. Then you have to read ever book that came after. So really, to read Zero Sum Game you'll have had to have read every Star Trek book that came before and do so in timeline order.

And since you have to read everything that came before Articles of the Federation in order to read Articles of the Federation then it stands to reason that you have to read everything that came after Articles of the Federation in order to read Zero Sum Game.

So now we all know the answer to what do we have to read if it comes after Articles of the Federation.

It's only logical.
