Are New Aliens Going to Be a Problem?

I'd have liked it better if they had had Worf say something like, "The Empire is vast, and contains many species - some of which have fully assimilated as Klingons. And if they serve the Empire with honor, then they *are* Klingons.".
NAH, Dorn should have appeared in the TOS make up for segments set in the past and the modern make up for the rest. All without comment.

I've always loved this idea. It would have fit in perfectly with the tone of the episode.

After they travel to the past have Dorn turn in a chair and be made up as a TOS Klingon, as said, nothing is said.
The TV show Star Trek: Enterprise got into trouble for being a prequel show and they introduced new aliens with make up that was made in the first couple of years of the 21st century vs. the late 1960's.
I haven't read the whole thread, but why was this a problem for the OP?

I enjoyed several of the new aliens on Enterprise, and hope that Discovery has lot's of new alien. And hopefully many of the previously establish aliens will be pushed to the background to give room for the new ones.

This would include the Klingon to be seen in the early episodes, have the Klingon arc and then basically have the Klingons disappear. The same with Ambassador Sarek, have whatever arc they're going to have with him and then have him be gone.

More room for new aliens.

And please have the Discovery's crew be a heavily cosmopolitan mix, as much of a mix as TPTB can afford. Beyond what's been announce, have any unannounce/secondary character be of species we've never seen before.

Throw away alien s for interchangeable storys is for the 90's.
If every new alien is completely fleshed out and brought back often the stories will get so bogged down in unnecessary detail that they'll be almost unwatchable. Look at DS9. The important species like the Cardassians, Bajorans, and Ferengi get plenty of development because they're central to the story. But others like the Miradorn and the Skrreeans don't get any development beyond their episodes because they're not important in any other stories.

I believe the biggest problem (for me) with Enterprise was introducing the Xindi, when there were established races from TOS they could have focused on instead. I would have liked to see more Andorians in Enterprise, and hope we see them on Discovery. Shran was he man! I don' mind new races on Discovery, so long as we don't get a new race they focus on to the point of not exploring other established races.

It would have been funny if the makeup changed and the only mentioned was like that scene in Young Frankenstein when he notices that Eyegore's hump had changed.

Too many fans are like the aliens from Galaxy Quest and act like the shows are some historical document. They're more dogmatic about canon than actual religious zealots.
Just the aliens?

Baby Justin Long!

Not that it's much different from Adult Justin Long. Dude doesn't age.

No.

Oh well. As I'm older than that, i still have the right to refer to that age as 'childhood', patronise to it, and blame it for all of societies problems. It is known.

Is there a premise here? How'd it get into trouble??

LIke Rogue One, I suggest that the producers do a relatively equal percentage of things that would be from TOS, new style aliens, and new aliens that look like they would have been made as a continuation from the 1960's show.
