Are B-4 or Data mentioned in any post-Nemesis Treklit?

Something's screwy with that link -- the article opens for a second, then it changes to an empty domain-name page. I found another site that has the same article (I Googled the article title):

http://www.scifiheaven.net/index.ph...eveals-the-star-trek-xi-that-could-have-been/

And it's a mistake to say that they "planned" on doing this as the next film. Spiner just says that it's one of several sequel ideas he and John Logan discussed between themselves.

As far as Countdown goes, I'm actually looking forward to the novels doing something totally different with the destruction of Romulus and disappearance of Spock.

You might want to run an antivirus check. When I tried to visit the TrekWeb link, it popped a malware warning when it redirected to the other page. It might have been out of date or inaccurate (it comes from a blacklist of reported sites, not an actual scan of what the page is doing), but better safe than sorry.

Odd, it looks fine to me, I'm not getting any of this stuff.

Link removed just in case.

I for one hope the novelists stay as far away from Countdown as possible.

I'm curious why you think this. It's been awhile since I read Countdown but I don't remember it being terrible or the ideas so far "out there." I don't necessarily agree or disagree with you just interested in your take on this.

Oh, the link works fine for me.

Man, that's the worst idea I've ever heard. Holy crap.

Incredibly glad that didn't happen. :wtf:

Data died. He should remain dead. Even though I love his character and miss him it would be an injustice to tape him onto B-4. The books have done a good job with this story point so far.

Yeah, that sounds really cheesy.

As for Data and B-4, I'm another one who hates the idea of Data over writing B-4. I understand that was meant to be a Spock/McCoy katra style out if Data was ever needed again, but I think it's really cruel to do that the B-4. Especially now, since he's lived at least 3 or 4 years of his own life.

I would think there could be ways to bring Data back without wiping out B-4, and if these could be done in a logical manner that grew out of a decent story, I wouldn't be totally against it.

well, in Needs of the Many, data had the exact same issues that many of the posters here are discussing. he didnt feel that it was his right to supplant B-4 and data was going to wipe his own self from the mainframe....until B-4 beat him to it.

i gotta say that it did add a new element to data, that he was willing to wipe himself out for picard, then for b-4, but at the last second...another being would do that for him. there are two sides of sacrifice, and data has them both covered.

I would so like data's personality to take over B-4 and return to comand the enterprise e as in the countdown comics. I miss data.

Wasn't Data's TNoTM resurrection because of some time-sensitive situation in the Federation's war with the Undine, that only Data could help with? In the Destinyverse, without the war against the Undine (f.k.a. Species 8472), his return would have to play out differently.
