Arctic Trek Lit

The reprint cover of Nightshade didn't include the Pretty Flowers, sadly. Although I guess we can assume this means Worf was the victor.

Last Christmas I read The Terror by Dan Simmons. I should probably read something more lighthearted this year.

It may not be Star Trek related, but the The Terror makes for some great wintertime reading and I highly recommend it.

Now I find myself really wanting to read Ice Bear! Holy Shit, Riker! Run Away From the Ice Bear! by Peter David.

Mentochickenman by Barbara Hambly also sounds good. So do Kirk Bangs McCoy's Daughter by Brad Ferguson and Collectible Plate by Dave Galanter and Greg Brodeur. And, of course, Four Authors? Awesome. by Carmen Carter, Peter David, Michael Jan Friedman, and Robert Greenberger.

If you've read the Discworld series, go back and reread Hogfather. If not, since the series should be read in order, you'd have to read the 19 books that come before.

I seem to recall a thread on Psi Phi, years ago, where someone posted a whole string actual ST novel covers with humorous new titles. Diplomatic Implausibility was called, "Riker, Watch Out for the Ice Bears!"

Are you thinking of this, maybe?:)

Holy Crap! That was freaking hilarious! i haven't laughed that hard in a long, long time!

Super Pyjama Desert Party
Unauthorized Star Wars Crossover
My Spock, My Pimp
Worf vs. the Pretty Flowers

I'm laughing again just retyping those...

That seems like a daunting task.

Worth it.

Personally, I would question that ALL 19 Discworld books have to be read in order - though some are follow-ons to others. Start with 'Hogfather' (the X-massy book of the set), 'Small Gods', 'Pyramids' or 'Guards! Guards!', and just see how you go.

Yeah, that matches up with the character based reading order I've been following. It just seems like the easiest and least confusing way to read them to me.
