April Fools tomorrow

I'm going to be on a First Great Western train, which is a joke in itself.

I don't mind them all that much, actually, though I guess that's probably because I only take the train once in a blue moon.

Re: April's Fool - the concept is fine, but in reality, it's an excuse for the moronically unfunny to think they're a comedy genius for the day. The lame jumping on the bandwagon by the media is even more cringeworthy.

The one or two genuinely funny gags every year are fine. But they're outweighed by a lot of dire nonsense.

I rarely get into April Fools Day. The one time I did was when my Xbox 360 got the Red Ring of Death. I felt I should at least have a little fun and switched mine with my room-mates brand new one month old 360. His reaction was priceless

I just realised this isn't a description of April Fool's. It's a description of every single fucking day on the internet.

I made it a tradition to punch everyone in the face who makes use of April 1st to lie to me.

It's the anniversary of when my girlfriend and I started dating. Our first date was April 1, 2009.

Sorry to break it to you, but the multiple orgasms she had that day and the anniversaries... faked, all of them.

I had something planned for the admirals, but just couldn't be bothered.

But with Candlelight's thread, I know something with JMS. Yet to hear if it happens.

It gives me focus... :p

Hey man, if you want to celebrate it on the wrong day, it's no skin off my back.

We say 'no skin off my nose' which is no less strange but how it transmogrified to 'back' is really odd.

I think it's a (con)fusion of the expressions "no skin off my nose" and "no sweat off my back" ;)

Well, I don't know what originally caused the changing body part in the expression, but back has been in use here since at least the 1920s. My grandma and my mom always said "back." One site speculates that using back may have come about because of the use of whipping as a punishment, but that's just his or her wild guess.

"No skin off my nose," however is of theatrical origin:

My own personal best was getting the work experience guy (son of the boss) at IBM going through all the comp tapes, wearing gloves and a mask, searching for an outbreak of 'tapeworm'. I'd set up some emails to make it look official and when he came back from lunch I was gloved up and taking the tapes out and inspecting them, we're talking tens of thousands of tapes.

All were in on it. When it was queried by WE guy ~ old, wise, beardy, computer looking nerd shook his head and said "well you know poly *insert BS here to sound like a plastic* is like, we think we got infected by a rogue tape from Southampton. It's going to be all over the company Man"

WE chap's Dad eventually came round to the library to find him gloved up and going through the thousands of tapes and LHAO :guffaw:

Also got Son last year to announce on FB that our local Supermarket were giving away samples of 'Prilloofa" vodka ~ especially designed for under 18s. Must be there before 12 O'clock. It took quite a few excited replies before someone realised

Oh I love it and I must think of something... ;)

Such a grump!

April Fool's Day. Clearly overrated. :p

I had planned to get back at this co-worker for stopping in the middle of the road back to work for no reason and holding traffic up..
by have his drive wheels put just off the ground so they do nothing but spin, but may itll just be a head game by letting him think its been done?

Also its my grand/great? niece's 2nd birthday tomorrow. (April 1)
