No it's not that, the pictures are just a simple portrait, with variables like smile vs no smile, eye direction etc. It's some kind of social psyc/personality psyc test that would probably be well known had I taken those courses, but I havn't and yet I'm expected to recognize it for this assignment and be able to find relevant research related to it.

The google has yielded no help and the prof wasn't overly helpful by email.

You need the specific name of the test? Or a general idea of what it's supposed to be measuring? Like which theory? Or are you looking for things like IV and DV?

Edit: It sounds like it's a study in some sort of attribution bias and not necessarily beauty or attraction? Paging Dr. Holdfast!

I'm halfway through PSYC 101 right now, so that means I'm an expert!

That being said, I have no idea. I'll ask my professor tomorrow if no one comes up with an answer and I remember to ask.

Hmmm...

The Big Five Personality Inventory has an element of that, but it isn't exactly that. There is a section which shows pictures and asks you to rate the friendliness of the person, etc.

That's about all I can think of. One challenge is that trying to find serious psychological tests on the internet is very difficult. Most are proprietary, and are only given (sold) to licensed mental health professionals.

I don't really understand what your professor is after here, making you find the name of the tool just based on that one question. You might need to talk to a Clinical Psychologist with a background in psychometrics (assuming that this is from a serious test, not some internet thing).

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Thanks but that will be too late, don't bother.

I don't need the name, but if I had it I could find it and find out what it's for. The question is two identify the elements of a survey study, and find a related study to each part. One element is tests for neuroticism and extraversion, which I found by googling the questions, the other is this, which I can't find anything on.

I'd suggest that Kestra is essentially thinking on the right lines and more specifically, that the questions are exploring the "beautiful is good" attribution bias.

That's one of the many cognitive attribution biases we all tend to operate under. This particular one demonstrates that most of us automatically tend to attribute positive moral/ethical characteristics to physically aesthetically pleasing people/faces.

Psychometric Testing isn't my forte, so I'd echo digits suggestion of finding someone more used to these tests if you want the specific name of the test, but I'd suggest that's the general theme being explored.

That's the first one I thought of but the description of the faces themselves confused me. Glad I'm not totally ridiculous in my line of thinking at least!
