Anyone watching The Next Food Network Star?

I've been a long time fan of this show, but aside from Guy Fierri, I've never been able to get into any of the winner's shows. I liked Aarti from last season, but after a few episodes, I realized that I would never make her food.

This year has been pretty good, and I like Vic Vegas, or whatever he's calling himself now. The sandwich guy impressed me last night because he got Alton Brown to stop being so smug about himself for a second.
I have no real opinion on the third contestant. Susie? She seems like a real contender, but she never really stuck out for me. She just always seemed kind of there.

I have lost interest in much of what Food Network puts out these days. Yes, the shows are still mostly about food, but I miss the shows about COOKING said food. the How-to stuff is on mostly now during the day while I'm at work, so I miss it.

The Cooking Channel (owned by Food Network) is a bit more my style.

I hear ya marillion some of that stuff, especially those stupid contests where they have to make a sugar sculpture based on a theme (like The Smurfs), and part of it has to move, are just ridiculous.

The Cooking Channel is much better for the how-to shows, but I don't care for some of their hosts; most of them aren't very interesting.

I liked how the judges commented about Penny's "leisurely" cooking style. Boy, was she trying to submarine Mary Beth. And I guess she did!

I like Vic, overall. He's figuring out how to do this, and in time. So's the other guy, Chris(?).

I love watching this and I love watching Food Network in general. It was this network that got me into trying out cake decorating. I still have yet to make anything from most of the crew but I have made a modification of Ina Garten's parm croutons. :D

Aside from the original Iron Chef (now airing on the Cooking Channel), I generally avoid all of the competition/contest shows.
