Indeed, that's exactly what happened with Jonathan Archer. A Picard wannabe played by an actor without a fraction of the gravitas.Without Stewart the Picard character would go down in history as Trek's worst captain. Picard as a character isn't all that compelling because he doesn't have the depth of Sisko or Cowboy image of Kirk or the sexy bi-polar qualities of Janeway. Stewart alone made the character watchable.
Are you kidding? Picard was the king of making speeches! Just ask Q.He had more gravitas than any of the other captains. He gave the impression he could quell rebellion with a glare, whereas the others would have to back it up with speech.
