Anyone still watch Star Trek movies on VHS?

I have the films on VCD, a short-lived format from Phillips, and TMP on RCA VideoDisc, basically a vinyl record with the movie encoded on it! That tech didn't last long either. Just collected these for fun, never had an RCA player, but I think it's cool that vinyl made it all the way to Video.

VHS went out the window in my household after 2005. That's also when I last saw some of the Trek movies on tape. Five yrs ago, I owned half the Trek movies on VHS and half on DVD. How quaint.

Last year, I watched just about all of my grandfather's boxset VHS collection, excluding Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country. I should watch that one. It's the only Star Trek film I have not seen as of yet, not including the new one.

Well curios enough Channel 4 has been showing them in scope for the past 4 weeks now with Star Trek IV on tonight at 11pm.

I wonder if it has something to do with the 70mm showings in the US each weekend.

I've got a VCR version of TWOK I bought immediately after the movie came out in the theaters. Cost me $55.00.

They'll pry it out of my cold, dead hands.

Yeah, I dont have the spare cash to indulge myself buying dvd box sets of all the series, probably could but the movies but didnt get round to it, need to provide for the family and all that, so i still use my tapes

I've really got to start posting here when I give away my DVDs.

In the US, ST II was the first sell-thru "low price" first release, IIRC, when fast food restaurants had it as a promo for amazingly low prices.

Australia wasn't as fast to drop prices. Like TMP, ST II was about $79.00 here Down Under, although the next big release, "Raiders of the Lost Ark", duplicated the US campaigns in our Pizza Huts at $29.95.

I have the first 6 films on VHS and if I remember 3 of the latter films and 1 DVD. I dare not watch the VHS tapes anymore, the VCR might not give them back!

On my Star Trek IV video tape, they advertise Star Trek TMP, II and III for $29.95 each (they also advertise the promo for Star Trek: TNG, which is why I will never let go of this VHS tape!).
