Anyone Know A Site Where You Can Watch DS9 For Free?

Your local public library might be an option. Also, while you said you wanted free, Netflix is a cheaper option come April. By then CBS will put out *every single episode of Trek* on Netflix Streaming. Of course, good luck fitting every episode into one month! :)

Another vote for your public library. It's great way to watch DVDs. I've watched a number of shows over the past few years. Or buy the DVDs.

I plan to own the episodes. So, for now I have been looking into the the local library here and have found a few of the seasons available and I think I have season five sitting in my living-room at the moment (would have to look, but is too lazy sitting at the computer and enjoying kava). Thank you all for your suggestions! They have been proven quite helpful. :)

I am pretty amazed at myself. When I was younger, all I wanted to do was watch the damn show and had no understanding of it. The makeup effects and special effects was all that caught my attention. But now, going back on what I recall from those years ago and then cross referencing them with the series I have been watching now, I find it rather fascinating how ones understanding of a story can manifest, develop, and understanding of a story can grow and be better interpreted, only after some time and a 'break' from the whole world or setting of the story in a whole.

Brava for frontal cortex development on this one. **chuckles*

^ Generally speaking, you can't buy books from the stacks from the library, but many have used book sales to help them raise money--they are usually donated books that the library didn't want to keep. If their collection development person doesn't think the library would be helped by having Trek Lit, and someone donated books, you might find them for sale.

Also, isn't Netflix going to start streaming all the series in April?

It was just recently announced that Netflix has licensed a large package of content from CBS that will become available in April. The press release stated that it would include Star Trek series "from all generations," so I assume that means they intend to offer all the Trek series. So, hopefully, come April, there will be a completely legal way to watch all the series online.

Of course, Netflix is not free, but the small monthly price for access to all of the series, plus all of the other shows they have, sure beats the cost of buying each season's box set individually.

@ Shatenertag, I know a good amount about that. As you said, it is much like that here in my own state; they do not sell the books unless a PR representative looks at the funds that are needed and puts it to use with a book sale. The local library here in my town is small, and is not appart of a whole branch of a main library like it is in a larger city I have lived in. Even if I cannot buy the books here in my town, I know damn well where I can go to get a hold of them in a much larger city. Damned small town/village/spit on a map. I miss the big city. Awesome places and a bunch of interesting food and people to meet.

@ CoveTom, nice news. It might make a good substitute until I can rack up money for the series. lol. I thank you.

@ Cyke10, I know, right? I can try to get through DS9 and maybe Voyager in a month if I decide to not sleep; its worth an attempt.

If your a fan then i say buy the DVD because you are supporting the franchise getting it for free don't give you the best quality anyway

Sometimes, with Youtube... it's not that it's allowed... it's just that Youtube hasn't found them yet. ;)

Thought some companies are nice about putting things up there... or their own sites, even if it's just for a while...

Many TNG episodes have been taken down from youtube. VOY too. Someone had uploaded lots of VOY ones and their account was deleted for copyright infringement. There is another website that claims to have every Trek episode but not all videos work and the legality is doubtful.

I'm 100% certain that the whole series is up on Youtube because I watched some episodes this weekend and they were all there. I feel morally justified because my DVDs were stolen while I was in the middle of the series.

If you type in Emissary DS9 into the search bar, you'll find the channel. It's the first option (at least in my country, don't know where you are). I'm not saying this is legal in itself, but youtube is legal and they've been up for almost a year, which seems like a rather long time especially seeing as DS9 is owned by the CBS/Viacom, which also owns youtube and these videos have all of the things copyright infringement shouldn't have (clear name, lot of views, lots of positive ratings) if they want to stay up.

Oh that's a bitch when that happens isn't it? I have come to loath the WMG crap on youtube. I mean, for all those people who have made some really good videos and put the epic music in the background, their little side hobby gets shot down because WMG is screwing around? The hell kind of free willed behavior is that?

Hasn't anyone in those damn offices heard of this law/act?

"Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use."

^ I find that when and if I post this before my video starts as well as in the description section, WMG tends to leave me alone for most countries.

It appears the videos are back. The VOY ones at least. And the person profile too. Weird.

Its the same for me. I have rented season five from my local library to settle the craving I've been getting. I also plan on buying the whole series when I have the money.

Mods, can I post the link to the youtube channel? I don't think it's illegal since it is on youtube.

Maybe you should actualy pay for something that people spent a lot of time and effort making?

I plan on doing that. I am headed to a book store here this week. Might buy one of the seasons if they have it on their shelves. Best time to wait though if I can afford to.

Boarders might be going out of business here in my state soon. So that means I could get what I can and want for a nice, cheap, easy price. Sucks though, I love that store. :/

Isnt ebay cheapest? DS9 boxsets are usually about 20-30 pounds in shops where I live.

Dont know if anyone agrees with this, but I really wish you could watch the first episode of any show for free. I would have bought DS9, BAB5 and BSG much sooner if I could have watched the first episode to make sure it was good.

I see you logic. I agree to an extent mainly because if you want to buy a product (IE, a CD, DVD, GAME), you should at least know what it is about and if you'd like it instead of wasting your money and later regretting it. I would have rather played the first two or three levels of Fable for Xbox before I bought it (means no offense what so ever).
