Anyone ever tell you about keeping quotes in context?
"against a coherent external threat we were in direct competition with."
It's still a no. If you think this country was unified in the 60s then you are sadly mistaken.
I was looking at a thread over in Sci Fi and Fantasy about an upcoming movie about a top secret moon-mission, and that got me thinking about all the people I know that truly believe we never even went to the moon in the first place.
This, distressingly, is a lot of people in my life. Personally, I have little trust in the American government, but I don't buy into the Moon Hoax theory, if only because that would mean there were thousands of people in the 60s and 70s who were pretty sure they were building stuff for moon missions, or, you know, went there.
But still, I run into SO MANY PEOPLE who think the landings were faked! This being a Star Trek board and all, I figure most folks here must be more knowledgeable than that. But you never know! Anyone here boarding the conspiracy train? Discuss!
I only know one woman who believes that the moon landings were fake. She carried on about the flag waving in the photos and when I tried to tell her why it seemed to be she threw up her hands and told me she didn't understand science and didn't want an scientific explanation (even though the answer I was going to give didn't involve science).
Not only that, but the Moon belongs to America, and anxiously awaits our astro-men.

Fucking flags, how do they work?

Position is 9/10ths of the law. We haven't been there in 40 years, we don't own it.

Magic!

Nah, we called it. It's ours.
I assume you mean “Possession is nine-tenths (or nine points) of the law.”Position is 9/10ths of the law. We haven't been there in 40 years, we don't own it.
we should be able to see the moon mission gear left on the moon
Yeah, it's too bad nothing like that exists.
Oh wait.
What about the spooky moon-something? Aren't you worried about it? If I believed that, I would be.Actually I just don't worry about it.So you wear just half of a tinfoil hat?I don't think the landings were faked, but I think we found something up there or out there that spooked us... that's why we closed down the program and destroyed the drawings for the Saturn rockets and the rest of the hardware.
