Anyway, much to my surprise GB is proving not to be the exact clone of the OG forums people expected and is (for now at least) a pretty decent place to visit.

I agree, whilst ive not read every thread, I would say the reaction to T:CoE was pretty good on the whole, but that is for the most part because it was "pretty" good

Yeah, the real fuckwits have been on LJ and elsewhere, Jossed Janto-shippers sending death threats to RTD and James Moran, and their friends and families.

what I want to know is why do all the mods have pictures of themselves in as their avatar, and none of them are that good looking.

I'm also at GB, I signed up shortly after it started but haven't posted much. I'm mostly here at the TrekBBS and I have other forums for other interests I'm active at. Also, I'm scared of spoilers, but I guess I might be more active once the rest of the specials air and the new series draws nearer.

They should make me a mod. Not that I'd ever want to, though I can't imagine it being much worse than when I was a SuperMod at Interplay/Black Isle and dealing with Fallout Fanbois but... I'm much better looking.

Wow. I'm stunned, but not in a good way. I feel sorry for James Moran. And really, anyone who gets that worked up over a piece of fiction should seek professional help. This nasty side of fandom was always incomprehensible to me (thankfully, I guess).
