Anyone Here Like The Big Bang Theory Televison Show?

What other shows has Lorre done? Never really watched Two and A Half Men much. Didn't find it all that funny when I did.

Quite a string of successful comedy shows, amongst them Roseanne, Dharma & Greg and Mike& Molly

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chuck_Lorre

So even if they are not "groundbreaking" comedies (whatever that means) his shows are popular and he's consistently produced well liked shows, not an easy feat.

Ok I am at the 7th season now Martok. I haven't seen the shoe episode you have referred to twice. Let me guess Sheldon does a experiment dropping a shoe from the apartment and hits someone on the head. Right?
You've never heard the expression "waiting for the other shoe to drop"?

Yeah I have heard that expression. Matok said "fall" instead of drop. I guess he must thing something is going to happen? Darned if I know. Maybe hes waiting for TBBT to be canceled?

You referred to this programme in the JJ Trek movie forum. You repeatedly pointed out how much you loved when Sheldon got upset at getting the wrong Mr. Spock cardboard cutout. It appears waiting for the other shoe to fall or drop was simply him waiting for you to mention how great the show is for any proper Star Trek fan and then counting how many posts it would take for you to make sure everyone knows the best part about the show is how it puts down the new version of Trek. Hence waiting for the shoe for the shoe to fall or drop. In other words, it appears that at least one person believed you only chose to make this thread here because similar threads were dissuaded in the other forum.

Ah. I thought it could be that but it seemed far fetched. This thread is completely different in that its about the series as a whole and its references to sci fi /fantasy etc. I do have my favorites so far and as I go on with the series I am getting more. My earlier threads were focused on the one scene because I had just seen it and found it hilarious. My first one got removed from the JJ NuTrek forum because it wasn't getting enough responses so I restarted it here because the traffic is higher and thought people would enjoy it more but I learned we cant repeat a post even in another forum exactly like an earlier deleted one. The second attempt wasn't getting any views anyway because it was only a clip and I didn't set it up as much of a discussion thread. So far it seem like there are plenty of fans for the show. I wished I would have watched it when it first came out. Hopefully we get another 2 or 3 seasons so I can have a chance to watch in new airings.

Regarding the clip:

TBBT has amusing moments, but it was never as brilliant as it was once made out to be and sometimes its a bit painful.

This also isn't current - the clip was uploaded in January of 2012, when the episode originally aired.

It's also not really a fit for this forum, but since there were references to both Nimoy Spock and Quinto Spock, I let it ride for a day under the "slim tangential relevance" statute.

I found this part telling, though:

You have as many posts as everyone else combined - not a good sign. If you're having to do that much work to keep the thread near the top of the index, then maybe it's time to let this one drop.

You have broached this subject three times. Tell me now that the other shoe has not fallen.

The first thread was shut down because you kept bumping the thread to try and keep your displeasure at the new Trek's expense fresh in everyone's minds. M'Sharak noticed this, and appropriately shut you down. You were desperate to keep that thread open because you dislike Zach Quinto's Spock, and you want God and everyone to know your displeasure, and to make sure that everyone knew that in your mind, TOS Trek is the ONLY TREK.

The second time was because you decided to start the exact same thread in a different forum. Tosh spotted it, and I confirmed it. You were shut down by Neroon because you continue to want to express displeasure at the expense of the new movies.

Now, playing it much more carefully, you wait several posts after the OP before harping once again about your love for Leonard Nimoy, and your dislike of Zach Quinto. And you're trying to play it so innocent, as if: "oh, I didn't know."

Look, I'm not a fan of anything, but it does annoy me when someone doesn't take the hint, and doesn't stop harping over the same ol' same ol'.

Mods: For the record, I am not mircomodding or minimodding. I am just calling this guy out on his habitual desire to keep trying to make those of us who enjoy the new Treks (and additionally, who have loved the original all our lives) feel like somehow we are not liking the supposed "True Trek."

We know, Pubert. We know there are those who dislike the new movies. We get it. We don't need you to be their torchbearer...and I doubt that they need you either.

And also, for the record, Pubert....it is because of your obssessive posts that I have absolutely no desire to watch The Big Bang Theory.

Hey, don't blame the poor show for a scuffle on a message board.

Trust me, there's much more to the show than that one Zachary Quinto joke! :)

Oh, I know.....I saw bits and pieces of some episodes at Coyote Ugly a few months back. There was indeed some funny stuff. :)

Just go watch the first season of it (or at least the first 5 or so episodes) and make up your own mind.

If the show doesn't have you by then just walk away, we all have dfferent tastes.

The two earlier threads were completely different. I didn't even put video clips in this thread at all. I guess you'll look at every post I now put up anywhere and if I mention the spock cardboard cut out scene you'll call a mod?
I also see you selected only parts of my posts not the entirety(You cut out that the Nimoy Mego doll sequence was my fsavorite). You are forming your own story based on your opinion and feelings in hopes the mods will delete the thread. Maybe they will. In the meantime this thread was for people who like and want to talk about TBBT. You haven't added anything beyond wanting to get it closed. If your sensitive about other not liking NuTrek and saying it don't read their comments. Plenty here make fun of TOS(My favorite Trek) and say it sucks and I am completely fine with it. I didn't care for the NuTrek movies but if you do thats great enjoy them.

If you don't want to watch TBBT that's up to you. I had nothing to do with that I am just some faceless nobody on a trek board. Why would you let anything I say affect your decision making process? I don't control what you watch or don't watch. You're missing a great show imo.

P.S. Sheldon actually grown fond of Quintos version of Spock later in the series.(We find this out late in season 6) If you watched the series you would know that.

I edited my earlier response but I will repeat it here. I just finished season 6 of TBBT. We find out that Sheldon has actually grown fond of Quintos version of Spock. Its a whole sequence about how he doesn't like change and Leonard is reminding Sheldon how he started to like Quintos version and finally accepted him as a good portrayal of Spock.

So basically there is no "legitimacy" to my scene whatsoever. Its still funny though. If you watched the show you would have known.

TBS runs the show (at minimum) 5 days a week, usually in blocks. If you time it right you can catch the pilot. It's also on Amazon, but apparently not included in Prime.

This is how it all started ...

Leonard sure was thin in the first episode. Look at the pants Sheldons wearing .LOL!

Pubert, my apologies. Sincerest apologies.
I will say no more. Let all be in peace.
And know that I have nothing personal against you. Never have. :)

Sheldon also had normal human sexual urges in the pilot. Leonard makes a couple of references to Sheldon's sexuality--okay one was a masturbation joke but still. Interesting how his character developed.

For the record, "groundbreaking comedy" refers to sit-coms that do something truly different. It changes over time because the envelope continues to be pushed. All the Family (originally a British show) discussed issues that had never been portrayed on television before, MASH did something similar, Seinfeld broke the mold of needing moral and family value lessons, Married with Children was the anti-sitcom--etc. Contemporary shows like Modern Family or TBBT while having slightly different set ups than other sitcoms still have the same loving, family dynamic that has been portrayed many times previously. And don't bring out the firing squad because I do enjoy both shows.

Also, I don't care about the OPs original threads. Why care so much to bring that up here? Pubert and I have disagreed a few times in previous conversations but shouldn't we treat discussions on their own merits? And this is a fun discussion.

Apology accepted. I do take some of the responsibility for peoples reaction to me. I have been in Trek Today only a few months and my earlier posts a few months ago were a bit rough but I have softened somewhat. I still post in the trek movie 11+ forum but I don't harshly criticize the movies as before. If I post something negative I try and give a good reason for it. I still get dinged every now and then but that's part of being on these boards.

Sorry, we posted at nearly the same time--I didn't even see your post until just now.

One of the problems with postings is that we often read too much into another persons comments and posts--missing their all too often innocent intentions. I too have been both the attacker and the victim, as have many of us. Peace and long life.
