Anyone else have the AA Enterprise E?

Gorn Captain

Commander
Red Shirt
I just picked it up today to add to the fleet I am assembling and while overall I like it, I have to say I am disappointed with the size of it. It's pretty tiny. I understand it's going to look slight next to the Enterprise D, but it looks insubstantial even compared to the refit Enterprise on the other side. :(

On a similar note, can anyone direct me to a website that shows the ships side by side? I've seen the picture of Enterprise A-D in scale, but never the E. Thanks.

I do, and I love it. The size seems fine to me...and only two things really bother me about it. One, that the blue part of the nacelles don't light up and two, that it doesn't have a mode where the lights just...stay on like with the Ent-D.

Here ya go...

I don't think AA is making them proper size to each other, which is understandable, either the original would have to be tiny, or the D would have to be massive lol. However I would like to have ONE set of the ships that is the correct size compared to each other...

I agree with everything you say there. I was real disappointed that the warp field grid didn't light up, it doesn't look right with just the bussard collectors lighting up...

Well, you can do that, but you'll have to build them yourself. I'm working on a 1/1400 scale set of the NX to the 1701-E. All the kits (all but the 1701-E are currently out of production, or are available in expensive resin kits only), aftermarket accurate parts, custom decals and tools have run me ~$600, but I have a hobby for the next year. It would be cheaper to do it in the smaller 1/2500 scale set. That would run you ~$100.

A nearly completed 1/1400 E-E next to a just started 1/1400 E-D, the latter being twice the size of the former.

Those sizes are correct. The Ent-E isn't so big actually. Which is why the interiors in the movie aren't so huge as they were on the Enterprise-D.

Those models look great. Keep up the good work!

It never occurred to me that the saucer module of the Enterprise-C might be more voluminous than that of the Enterprise-E. Fascinating.

Thanks, here's some more photos of the project, a little further along with all the models. In case anyone is wondering, the shinyness on the Double-E will be flattened out when it's done.

The 1701-C is definitely larger than the E, with maybe 25% more volume.

What surprised me when it showed up with the Enterprise-B, it's about two thirds the volume of the 1701-E and about three fourths the length.

Of course, the 1701-D is just MASSIVE, while the 1701 and NX-01 are almost the same size.

I always found it amusing that the ships all got progressively larger until the E-E... Which was longer yet still smaller...

They really do! I'd totally get models of the ships to make except I'd be too lazy to actually build them... :p

Nigel Powers:
It's not the size mate it's how you use it.

That is something that I noticed too. I always remember reading that they were told when designing it that the Enterprise-E was the Porsche version of a Starfleet ship.

^They all have their merits. That's why I have to have ALL of them.
