Anyone else feeling disappointed with the look, leaks etc

Doing a new version would be aimed at hitting that same target. The things you might see that would be different shouldn't change the FEEL of the set... just the level of "polish."

Exactly!

TMP Was a reboot, as was TWOK, and TNG.

What's the problem?

Star Trek XI is just like the 1978–1982 Galaxy Quest tv series and the Galaxy Quest created by the Thermians. ;)

to be disappointed at this stage has nothing to do with the product and everything to do with the person feeling disappointed

I have great respect for J.J. Abrams work, he is very professional and a credit to the industry. J J Abrams has produced some fantastic material but I don't love everything he does. His latest work he has become notorious for stuff where the hype outweighs the product. From some of the leaks it looks as if they are making Trek all dark, gritty or gothic and I hate jiggy cam at the best of times - it is taking Star Trek away from Roddenberry's vision. If they are going to mak Star Trek this way then what is the point?

What footage have you seen that includes "jiggy cam?" Or gritty? Or "gothic?" ()

As someone who has never understood this whole "Roddenberry's vision" thing, I'm looking forward to it.

I think some people incorrectly inferred the "gothic" and "gritty" look from the NCC-1701 viral marketing site. But site is supposed to look dark because construction is being done on the Enterprise at night, like it was in the trailer. I find it hard to believe the ship won't be well-lighted even if it doesn't look exactly the same cosmetically.

Darnit! You make sense. :wtf:

I agree!

I think that dark corridor is a jeffries tube or some kind of maintenance corridor

I think that, too - I also think people are leaping to whatever conclusion they dislike the most based on one blurred photograph.

It's like what Sam Raimi said about internet and rabid fans,
He feels like a plummer fixing a sink, and surrounding him is 20 other plummers watching his every move and commenting on it!

Re: Anyone else feeling disappointed with the look, leaks et

Grasping at straws to come up with a reason that will convince everyone else to boycott this movie.

Sad that some portions of fandom have been reduced to doing that.

"Some??"
Fandom continues to show its true colours. I am amazed how much they've managed to infer with so very little.
