Anyone else feel that Star Trek VI is still the best?

Never felt that way. I think next to TFF, it has some of the dumbest moments in TOS feature history, and rank it fourth, just above TMP and TFF.

But I just love the Excelsior china!

Simply faaaaaaaaaaabulous!

I think the infamous "mind rape" scene makes many of us uncomfortable, but then again, I think it is MEANT to. It was a horrible, horrible thing that Spock had to do, but given the seriousness of the situation they were in, he had literally no other choice. It's even more tragic that she truly didn't have the information anyway, so it was ultimately futile.

I am not sure about my feeling about TUC. It is overall good Star Trek film but it hasn't age that well. Personally think Nick Meyer went overboard with his militarism and Shakespeare lines in his Trek films. There were couple silly line like ,,only Nixon could go to China,, or when Kirk yelled out Adolf Hitler 1938. Don't forget about the alien who had his :censored: in his knees :wtf:  That has to be the best Star Trek joke ever.

"That was not his knee... Not everyone keeps their genitals in the same place, Captain..."
And Kirk realizes he just kicked a guy in his naughty parts! LOL!!!

Then asks the hot chick alien suggestively, "Anything you want to tell me?"

It is certainly my favourite, and has been since I first saw it. I can't really remember a flat point at all - every scene had a purpose and something to keep the attention of the viewer.

I think each of the first six Trek movies had something interesting. I know which movie I want to watch if I want something that's fairly calming. I know which movie I want if I want political intrigue. I know which movie I want to watch if I want to be pretend scared and I know which movies to watch when I want to laugh or just be happy.

I think it's like most of the Trek films - it's watchable and I think on the surface it's entertaining, and it manages to hit its beats as a relatively decent action film.

The problem that I have always had with that film is that, if I really think about it on even the most basic level (i.e. star to turn on my brain) it completely leaves me.

I've always had a soft spot for this film, probably because it was the only movie featuring the original cast that I saw in theaters.

I do like seeing Kirk at the end of his career; used up and embittered by the loss of his son. Shatner gives a good performance and the concept of the broken hero is far more interesting to me than the cartoon we got in ST IV/V of Kirk unaffected by his years or the loss of his son.

The story is ham-handed to some degree, but it doesn't bother me overmuch. As for 'the best' Trek movie, that crown still belongs to II, which is the gold standard of Trek on film.

I do my best not to "rank" the movies against one another. But I like ST:VI as stated above as a great send off to the original crew. And as to the "Only Nixon could go to China" thing, how many of us use the idiom: "As a rule of thumb," without realizing its roots lie in wife beating?

As to "mind rape," I agree: Spock was ready to die for the many, so it stands to reason he would expect no less from his protege', Valeris.

And lastly, I've always had a problem with those LCARS screens. Despite Chief O'Brien's assurances about redundancies and back-up systems, if the light bulbs go off, I'd rather have buttons that are raised up instead of a smooth panel.

Yeah, I think you should be able to handle critical functions with your eyes closed. If I was on a starship, I'd like to know the control boards by feel.

Much like the way I'm typing these words on the screen right now, no need to glance down to correct myself.

whenever I see Star Trek VI I always turn it off after Hikaru Sulu says, "Are you kidding!?"

The communications station was given physical buttons. That's it.

Watch my expression upon reading statements excusing ^RAPE*.  :wtf:  :scream: :censored: :brickwall:

That's what TOS was about.  :wtf: :scream: :censored: :brickwall:

Had they never made 'The Wrath Of Kahn' 'The Voyage Home' or 'First Contact' I would agree completely.

Mind making since, my universal translator is having trouble with your post... It makes no since.

Star Trek VI has long been my favorite. I love this movie and in fact watched it again just the other day.

McCoy: "What is it with you anyway?"

Kirk: "Still think we're finished?"

McCoy: "More than ever..."
