Anyone doing JulNoWriMo?

(Terms for the uninitiated: July Novel Writing Month, and National Novel Writing Month)

NaNoWriMo is normally done in November, which is an awful time for me to get something like a novel done. I was alerted to the existing of a July version, so that's what I'm going to attempt. Is anyone else doing it this year, or any of the other WriMos?

July strikes me as being a less than ideal time for something like this, too. Why don't these people pick a month where it isn't summer or the middle of the holidays, like February or March?

That's why there are NoWriMo's for every month of the year, apparently. Sometimes more than one. Summer works better for me than autumn, in any case.

NaNoWriMo is doing a "Camp NaNoWriMo" this year, so if you're interested you might want to check in with the site and keep an eye on the boards (or make sure that they're mailing you updates). It looks like "Camp" starts in July as a sort of beta test, and then starts again in August for reals. At least, that seems to be the case from what little info we've seen.

I think I'll be doing this, but it depends on whether I have a job at that point.

I had no idea there were alternatives to NaNoWriMo. It's a little late for June, but I may give another one a try. Time has been at a premium for me lately, but I'm trying to change that.

Editing is a truly underappreciated activity, and I think it's harder than actually writing the book in the first place.

^To tell the truth I edited mostly as I went, which apparently is a no-no, but worked for me. I knocked it out in three and a half weeks and the only major revision I'm doing is to add a bit more suspense to the climax.

Now it's time to send it off and get rejected!

I always edit as I write-- actually, in my head before I write-- which is why I write so slowlyyyyy.....

Oy. I've just written the synopsis for my novel.

Let me say, the internet has never failed me as a resource before, but when it comes to finding tips on how to write a synopsis for one's book, it has finally proved useless! It's not that there was no information. Quite the opposite, there was a plethora of tips and articles and step-by-step guides. The thing was, all the information was different. Some tips directly contradicted others. It didn't take me long to realize that I was sifting through a pile of useless bollocks and coming up with only the occasional louse for my troubles.
I did it my own way. I hope it's good!

I'm working on ShoStoWriMo, Short Story Writing Month, whether it exists or not. I just have to stop watching so much TV and try to at least write a story a month. I'm not going to make any long term plans because I'm too fickle it would seem.

This science fiction original universe of mine is the second longest time I've spent on any specific project (the longest being an aborted novel and the third longest being a completed novel that didn't sell).

I've actually just finished touching up my NaNo story and sent it in to CreateSpace for a proof copy, so I don't think I'll be doing this. Feels good to be free of it though!

Just started this today. Hit my target. Anyone else doing it so far? :)

If I am the only person doing it I will refrain from bumping this thread, heh.
