Anybody going to the inaguration?

I'm still thinking about it, it will depend on whether or not a friend working with the inaguration team can get me a ticket. If not, I'll be watching it form the comfort of Canton, Ohio on my parent's plasma with a bombay sapphire in hand :). If, however, I can get a hold of a ticket, I'll crash somewhere downtown the night before and grind it out come rain or snow and be a small part of big history!

What I'm not doing, is braving that kind of madness without knowing I'll actually be able to see something.

Anybody going to give it a shot?

TGI Fridays is having some big Inauguration Bash thing with cheap appetizers and drinks. I'm just hoping I have that day off.

I live on the other side of the country. I'll probably go out somewhere to enjoy the inaugeration with people or just watch it on TV at home. Looking forward to the speech though.

Indeed yes. Plans for going are still developing, but my mother just supposedly got some tickets to the ceremony and she's giving them to me, so yay!

My boss made a point of telling me back in November that she wanted to go to the Inaguration. Therefore, I have to work that day (instead of being off on Tuesday like I normally am). Over half the edit staff in my building are taking off for the Inaguration, apparently, and many others will probably take the day off or work from home because traffic will be so ridiculous.

I wouldn't go to that cluster fuck if you payed me, and I live within 30min. I predict riots.

And by the way Flaming Liberal...............

No, I've got to wash my hair. And then, since something good has to happen that day, I get to watch 3 hours of new LOST! Woohoo!

Though it would be cool to go, it's just not practical from a work standpoint. I imagine someone will have a little shindig somewhere, though. :)

Since Obama is a big Trekkie, he's actually invited all TrekBBS Mods to come and sit up front. :bolian:

Said something about "Human Shields." Sounds pretty cool, whatever it is.

It'd be fun to go, but I doubt very much it's still possible to get tickets at this point.

It would be cool to be there in person...but it will be horrendously crowded, not to mention cold as hell. I'll just catch it on CNN instead.

I'm headed the other way -- getting the Heck out of town and flying west to Lake Tahoe for some righteously good skiing! *woohooo*

Cheers,

I live literally four blocks from the Capitol building and so, whether I go or not, it'll still be pretty hectic around here. So I might as well join the fuckers. A friend of mine is under the impression (he could be right) that because it's Obama there will be thousands of single women. Can you believe anyone would brave that shit for something so trivial? Still, watching him make an assclown of himself may be more entertaining than waiting for the anointed one to drive by and wave.

This whole Inauguration is turning into a circus, historic as it may be. This city is positively spazzing out. You'd think it was the Olympics.

Still, it would be a shame, with a 4 or 5 min walk, not having to deal with the Metro, no traffic, to just sit at home watching all those people spazzing out. We'll see.

No.

I wouldn't go even if it had been McCain who won. I don't like huge media circuses like this. Can you imagine trying to take DC's Metro on a day like that?
